With that said, though I sell Chevy's, I have nothing against Ford OR Toyota. I do chuckle at your signature tho..... Quote:

I don't get on a soap box about Chevy's but Rex and I do tend to agree about SOME GM issues. |

If you don’t do any work on your own truck and just use it ‘till it’s done then get a newer one, go Ford. If, however, you plan to keep a truck for a while and do some work on it as it’s needed, go Chevy. From ’55 to ’93, Chevy engines didn’t change much. Parts are interchangeable. After ’93, the only thing that changed was the cylinder heads and intake manifold to accommodate a steeper valve angle and fuel injection. Since then, the latest change was ‘round ’98 with the Vortech engines, full sequential TPI, CDI ignition, yada yada. Personally if I were look’n for a new truck I’d go Toyota, but that’s partially just to get Jake stirred up.

Tastes Great! Less Filling! Buy the "bowtie", they look better. The Fords are butt ugly, and Ford has never been able to make up their mind on a firing order. That drives me crazy, idiots! |

I am Chevy person, but owned a 2000 Harley Davidson F-150 and did not have one bit of a trouble with it and put about 90k on it.
I can tell you that the 5.4 gets sh*tty gas mileage. I was lucky to get around 10 in town and about 15 on the highway.

'03 F-150 4X4, here. Of course, it only yesterday turned 30k miles so, for now, it's perfect.

Sorry I don't have any input other than I like the look of Chevy/GMC's better but somehow trust Ford more.
PLEASE! Any advice for me PLEASE!? I want a V8 old cheap truck to beat up and drive for a year or two, tow my friends boat, toy around with a bit of off roading, daily driver & I work 5 minutes from my house so I don't have to drive much. I can sell my car for about 2000. My friend bought a burgandy 98 F-150 with 180,000 miles from an old man who was the only owner for 2 grand about 6 months ago, he bought a new truck a couple months ago and decided he doesn't need two trucks. Looks & drives just fine. He told me he'd give it to me for 1800 and just pay him 300 a month, he manages an auto shop, it has all new tires & he says if it ever needs anything I can take it in to him for free. I'm not crazy about the truck but I really want to get rid of my car and it seems like a good deal to have some fun with this truck and just tear it up for a year or two then upgrade, only concerns are the high miles and I don't like the color, not sure if it'd be worth the trouble to get it painted, of course I don't expect everything to be perfect considering how friggin' cheap it is Or I would could sell my car and find a different truck with a budget of up to 7-8 grand or so, Ford, Chevy, or GMC, V8 shortbed preferred, black, white or blue colors preferred. anyone got some advice for me? |

I've got a 2000 Silverado with the 5.3 Vortec. I absolutely love it. Never had a breakdown or any problem of any kind.
