So if Kerry and the Dem hate Halliburton...

Why does Kerry, Moveon.org and the DNC take money from their employees?

And, why was it "OK" for Clinton to give a "no-bid" contract to Halliburton to go into the former Yugoslavia?

If I'm not mistaken, they made about $3 billion in no-bid contracts in Iraq, and about $2 billion in no-bid contracts in Kosovo.

Why did Clinton award them billions in no-bid contracts?

I also like how the media treats the Halliburton stories:

Quote:
"President Bush Friday said if any company involved in Iraqi reconstruction has overcharged the government, it will have to repay the extra funds. "If there's an overcharge, like we think there is, we expect that money to be repaid," the president said when asked by a reporter about a Pentagon audit that may have uncovered a potential overcharge by Halliburton, the oil services company once run by Vice President Dick Cheney." CNN

US President George W Bush says he expects an oil company once run by his vice-president to return money if it has overcharged for services in Iraq. Dick Cheney used to head Halliburton, which is under contract to deliver fuel to the US military in Iraq.
BBC
Then, after Halliburton was cleared:

Quote:
The Army apparently has sided with Halliburton in a dispute over the company's charges for fuel delivered to Iraq.
Miami Herald

A senior US army officer has cleared the American engineering company Halliburton of any wrongdoing in relation to a contract to deliver fuel from Kuwait to Iraq, according to a newspaper report.
BBC
Notice anything missing in those second two quotes? Par for the course in the mainstream media.

The reason they get no-bid contracts is because they are the only company in the world that can provide all the services that they do.

The last thing I want to see, is 15,000 independent contractors running around Iraq.

Has anyone ever considered that perhaps Halliburton is the only company with large enough resources to meet the terms and scope of these projects? I mean, just how many companies out there are set up to go put out oil well fires and rebuild oil infrastucture on a next-day basis? That's the side of the story we have never heard. I own a small company, and we bid government contracts all the time. However, there are some contracts that we just can't bid, because there is no way we have the resources to meet the requirements.

On the other hand, we have "preferred" status with US Navy special ops, where they can buy from us without going thru the bid process, based on paperwork we submitted and past performance. This ensures that if special ops folks need equipment for a mission tomorrow, we can get it there tomorrow without undue red tape.

IMHO the entire Halliburton thing is just a prime example of the media not knowing the entire process and situation. Halliburton probably has the same "preferred" status for the same reasons we do, and for the same situations. It's not thier fault that they went thru the process and made the investment to achieve that status.

I don't really make that much money from my preferred contract, it was just something I wanted to do, because when I lived in Panama City I got to know a bunch of the guys that did special ops diving there, and they are a cool bunch of guys. I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing my little company can help our armed forces in the slightest way.

I'm pretty sure that's a lie; they may be the only AMERICAN company that can do that, though...

Are you proposing that we outsouce that work instead of having it done by Americans? What about preserving those American jobs?
