Hey look! A mock draft already!
Dang.... that sure wuz a short season!
http://www.football.com/draft/2005/05mockdraft.shtml Round 1 1(1). San Francisco 49ers *Matt Leinart Quarterback USC Tim Rattey is a serviceable NFL quarterback but when you have the top pick looking for an elite quarterback is always a safe route. San Francisco could try to trade this pick but I think Leinart is the logical choice if he declares and the 49ers stay in the top spot. 2(2). Miami Dolphins Cedric Benson Running Back Texas One can only hope that if this is the choice for the Dolphins he works out better than the last Texas running back they had on their roster. There are conflicting reports about how open the Dolphins would be for a Ricky Williams return next season. I think the Dolphins want Williams to come back and then try to trade him in an effort to get some draft picks back. Benson is a tough inside runner who would be the best running back option for the offense if they don't trade down in an effort to acquire more draft picks. 3(3). Carolina Panthers Antrel Rolle Cornerback Miami (Fla.) Rolle could be the best player available in the entire draft class at any position. Chris Gamble has struggled at times but he looks like he will settle in soon enough, pairing him with Rolle would ensure the Panthers have a pair of young talented corners for years to come. Derrick Johnson would be a tempting player for John Fox in this spot. 4(4). Tampa Bay Buccaneers Alex Barron Offensive Tackle Florida State The starting tackles for this team are 33 and 34 years old and Kenyatta Walker remains an enigma and lacks consistency. Barron seems to be the leading tackle option for many teams so he would be a fit in Tampa. Getting another wide receiver option is a possibility and this could be the first place where we hear the name Mike Williams popping up. 5(5). Tennessee Titans Derrick Johnson Linebacker Texas While the need for a quality defensive tackle may be the biggest hole to fill, passing on an athletic talent like Derrick Johnson proves to be too much for the Titans. Johnson will be an immediate starter and he and Keith Bullock would be the most athletic linebacker tandem in the AFC. 6(6). Dallas Cowboys (From Buffalo) *Rodrique Wright Defensive Tackle Texas It has been evident watching the Cowboys that changes are needed all over the defensive side of the ball. With a pair of first round picks I think the Cowboys might look towards cornerback or wide receiver later. The other possibility here is the Cowboys take Mike Williams and get a defensive player at #10. 7(7). Washington Redskins *Aaron Rogers Quarterback California I probably have some readers scratching their head over this pick but please hear me out. The Redskins look like they will cut Mark Brunell and Patrick Ramsay does not seem to have the trust of the Joe Gibbs regime. Look for Ramsay to be trade bait while the Redskins keep Tim Hasslebeck around as the backup to Rogers. This is Washington so anything is possible. 8(8). Oakland Raiderz Carnell Williams Running Back Auburn The Raiderz seem unwilling to hand this job to Justin Fargas so getting a running back is a good option. Williams gives the Raiderz an explosive threat that can take the ball the distance with every touch. 9(9). Kansas City Chiefs *Mike Williams Wide Receiver USC The Chiefs ignore defense again as they corral Mike Williams for their aging wide receiver corps. Williams could be off the board with Dallas or Oakland but in this scenario with Williams on the board at #9 the Chiefs grabbed the bait. |

This is so unrealistic. Everyone knows we'll be drafting third.

No way in hell the Carolina Panthers draft Antrel Rolle when they have Ricky Manning Jr. and Chris Gamble as there QB, thats is something i would call a big ass mis-print.

we are bad enough to lose out. I still think about the interview with Sapp when he signed was asked how many games would Oakland win, he said we won't go 4-12. He was right it looks like 3-13 ![]()
