Hey Skip ........
I'm having another 2 recievers added to my house today, a total of 4 in house. ( DTV ). We are cutting out the cable and had to have another dish on the side of the house to accomdate the local channels.

They gave me a sweetheart deal, they wanted to charge me alot of money, I bitched that I was a paying customer for 4 years with the premium channel package along with the Full Court and Sunday Ticket.
I hee hawwed around long enough they gave it to me for free, only pay the additional recievers monthly.

My question is, since the house is wired up for cable, can they not just use the same cable ports to hook them up ?

I know when they hooked my DTV up, they used some existing cable tv hardware...

Our house was a mess.... They are done but had to cut alot of cables wires out.

I'm glad to hear they replaced at least some of the cable. I always replace it if it is visible (not in walls), frayed or worn, or if it's RU59 instead of RG6.

It is types of coax. The cable companies wired houses with RU 59 for 25 years. It works, but is smaller than RG6 and can't carry as much information.

So the older cable doesnt have as much bandwidth? That makes some sense, considering that Cable used to only be about 30-40 channels. Now its like 200-300 channels.
