anyone have a (hobbie size) Greenhouse?


how well do that work in a kansas city winter? how Hail resistant are they? Energy efficient?



considering one and have not the first clue about them

Plexiglas is fairly hail resistant, as is the opaque fiberglas. It all comes down to how permanent you want it to be, I guess.

I was considering the same thing. We just found a house on HWY 1 with a ton of property and I wouldn't mind having a green house so I can always have good organic food and herbs. My biggest issue though will be with a green house that rusts being as I am right off the water.

It is not heated, so obviously it's a spring/summer/fall operation only.

If you want year round, you'll have to heat it. The page above also has links to heaters and such.

i've seen some mostly plexiglass ones that shouldn't have a rust problem

Greenhouses are very expensive to heat in the winter and hard to cool in the summer. I had a 30' X 30' greenhouse on a farm I owned. It had a pipe frame and was covered with two layers of vinyl. It had an air pump that inflated the two coverings. I bought it at Stuppy there in KC. Call them, they are specialists.

i wasn't thinking of anything that big though ... more of a "baby" Greenhouse.
