Ty law is a banged up old geezer who has already recieved a 4 yr 26 million offer from NE. Why would we want to sign him, seeing that he's such an expensive risk?
I would rather pick up some June 1 casualty or rely on a rookie than risk expecting Ty Law to return to his old form and be ready by the beginning of the season.

That rumor has never been substantiated to my satisfaction. It came from his agent, Carl Posten, at the combine. Now, a 4 year, 26 million offer with a 6.6 million sb was made in February of 2004, but so far as I know, no team has made him any sort of serious offer in 2005. He's not even running yet.

I'm assuming that nobody will be signing him until he proves he can play. At which point he really wouldn't be as much of a 'risk'.

However, that said, the risk we can't afford is not acquiring Surtain on the blind faith that Law will be ready to play and willing to sign with us.

We need somebudy to cover Moss, who off the street can do that? Law may not be the answer, but we need to find one.

King Carl will not pay Law, so don't sweat it. The closest he will get is a flight over Arrohead heading somewhere else.

Seriously though, Law...if healthy....would be the best cornerback we've had on our roster since James Hasty retired. If the Surtain thing falls through, I think he's our last best option.

(Dyson, Woodson, and a post June 1 cap casualty are less comforting...and less likely.)

Nobody single-covers Moss and shuts him down. That can't be what you're looking for, cuz you ain't gonna find it...

You are correct. However, we only need to find someone to run up and down the field with him every 5th or 6th play. Moss takes more time off than my semi-retired boss.

Moss was held to under 51 yards receiving in 7 games last year. People need to stop making him out like he's this completely unstoppable receiver. If you shut him down early and take a lead on his team he gets bored and stops trying. He also doesn't like going across the middle. Randy doesn't like playing on days safeties are popping him in the ribs.

Hmmm.... I think I pretty much based my post on his AGE and his HEALTH. Besides, Im still a proponent of "blitz first defense," as a way of keeping the recievers out of play. It doesn't take great corners to do it, it takes great LBs and DL. Moss isnt going to be catching many 50 yard bombs from collins if collins has about 2 seconds to throw. We just need CBs who can cover decently until either the QB puts up the ball in desperation (INT) or is face first in the dirt. The biggest problem last year was the ability on every down for the QB to sit in the pocket for about 6-10 seconds every play. This problem stems from lack of explosiveness and indecisiveness from the LBs, DEs, and DTs. The indecisiveness also forces the safetys to commit more to stopping the run, which weakens the pass d further. See PA Bootlegs from the first Denver game, also caused by indecision from the DEs. The inability to tackle on the chiefs has also been a contributer to teh weak pass d because that means you have to get the safetys to follow up on plays, just in case the tackle is missed. The bottomline that I am trying to get at: LBs must come first. CB should be a priority, but not nearly as much as many people on this board are playing it.
