If you believed everything Whitlock says, Gunther would definitely be gone. He has a tendency to take what people say and blow it way out of proportion especially if it is negative toward the Chiefs.
Holhgrem (Seattle), Siefert (Carolina), and Coughlin (Jax) all had losing seasons this year. Carolina and Jax even won their divisions last year. I doubt any of them will be fired. How about Martz (Rams)? He took a Superbowl team with two MVPs and barely made the playoffs. I'm not convinced Gunther should stay, but I'm trying to compare facts as to whether he should be entitled to another year. At least some of his coordinators will be gone. |

It depends, I read one article where Grunhard gave a "vote of confidence to Gunther", but also saying that they need to clean up the team some more. But then a Whitlock article where they rip him, odd as that sounds.
He might be back, but he will have to make some changes to keep his job. |

I think he'll be back. And I'm definitely wishing he weren't. Who the fuck comes in to work at 5am on Xmas Day?!? Gunther, that's who!

I think he will be back 1 more year minus some assistant coaches....I just wish they would add a clause that he has to sleep 6hours per night...
Its not the amount of time, its the quality of time you spend...I've worked enough overtime doing construction in college to know that after a certain point, you are tired, burned out and don't get anything good accomplished.. GUN...Sleep more, work less and get more "bang for our buck" |

As much as it will hurt all of us, I believe he'll be back. Carl won't admit he made a mistake until things go really, really downhill. He has too much ego. Very sad, really.

Carolina didn't win their division last year. They weren't even close at 7-9. Did you mean to say Seattle & Jacksonville won their divisions? Phil giving him an out.... |

I think he'll get another year. Hope he doesn't but he will. Carl will say he learned a lot about player treatment this year and now he wants to give him another shot. I think every coach needs a player liaison/confidant (like Hasty) to bounce stuff off of so this kind of **** doesn't eat away at a team all year long until it's too late. Had Hasty gone to him in the middle of the season, maybe we'd be in the playoffs now. Maybe but maybe not.

I want Goonther, the 3 Stooges, and Limp Willie all out of here, but expect that only Stock will be sent packing.

There are many coaches who could have come into KC this year and possibly ended with the same outcome of 7-9. However, IMO, the biggest difference between Gun and other coaches whom could have produced this same record, is that they would have built on something for the following year.
Most coaches would not have taken so long to understand that TRich should have been the Man from the beg. of the season (should have had 15-20 carries/gm). Most coaches would have done a better job in gameplanning to cover your defenses shortcomings, and play a more aggressive style with your true playmakers. Most coaches with any sense would not have surrounded themselves with the 3 worst coordinators in the league, and then hire a soft cover Wille Shaw to boot! Most coaches would find a way to earn the respect of a James Hasty, not alienate your most experienced and one of the best defensive players you have. In short, Gun has proved, since his hiring as a HC, that he is not ready (and may never be)to lead an entire staff of players and coaches for a full season. He can do it for a game and maybe even 2 in a row, but his circuitous speak and lack of knowledge of how to motivate and who to play is proof enough that he should be gone as early as yesterday. A vote of confidence from Carl will speak volumes as to where this organization is heading. Carl, please do the right thing and release Gun from our misery! I think Gun will get one more year, but that we'll see a major purge of the coaching staff. If, however, Carl Peterson determines that Gun has lost the faith of the players (if it's really as bad as the Star makes it out to be, which is questionable) then Gun will go, too.
I'd say the odds are 60-40 that he gets one more chance. |
