Why is James Kilian not playing???

I'd rather see if this kid has a legitimate shot at making the team than watch turdball Quinn struggle through leading our offense.

He couldn't make it with the Bears, for cryin' out loud! Let the rookie play!

I've been thinking about this decision and I think there are a couple factors at play here.

1) The Chiefs want to evaluate a number of different positions (not just the rookie QB) and they want as consistant a QB (not the rook) to give themselves the best chance at accurately evaluating those players (particularly at WR).

2a) DV is probably more comfortable with where Quinn is and what he can/will do, and if both Huard and Collins are out at the end of the Preseason, Quinn will be our #2 QB behind Green.

2b) Because of 2a, Quinn needs all the game time he can get.

3) Killian will play the 4th Q of this game.

4) Killian is headed to the Practice Squad no matter what happens in this or the next game.

The ONLY reason I can see to not be playing Killian is that they have seen enough of him already in practicevto know they want to keep him and they are wanting to slip him in under the radar onto the practice squad.

There's no reason why he shouldn't be #3 though right now.

Well concerning point #1 Quinn certainly is not providing the coaches with anything to help them with any decisions.

I am now 100% certain that Killian is headed for the PS and they are getting Quinn ready for a backup role come Sept 11th.

Just talked to my dad and he said that it was basically decided early in the week that Quinn would play the entire game after Trent.

I guess he is for sure the #3 QB once Collins comes back and #2 until then. Huard is gone and Killian to the PS which is why they are holding him out.

Todd Collins has been the backup, and a reliable one in Vermeil's mind, for what seems like forever. If all of a sudden Collins is out, and Huard's out of the mix, they are going to press to get someone up to speed as a backup. Most NFL starting QB's seem to have their turn missing games due to injury. You'd sure hate to see Trent go down, but the nervousness is over having a suitable backup in case he does. Quinn is the best choice, having been in the system. So getting him as much game experience at a time like this is critical. He'll probably play practically the whole game next week. Hopefully they'll be happy with a good amount of his play and let Killian in for a quarter. Remember, Killian is supposed to be a "project."

I hope that Lamar is hiring an assistant to open doors for Trent, pick up hot things, carry him up stairs, etc. We can't take any risks with him.

I must say I never wanted Todd Collins to be our backup more than I do now. Wow either this offense is seriously overly complicated or we have the worst backups in the league.

Damn, what you guys want, as our # 3 QB ? Quinn just signed, he knows the offensive scheme, give him time. 2 years ago he was solid in preseason for a # 3.

Killian is a project, he needs time on the PS and NFLE......

Yes if Trent goes down, we better hope it's just a game or 2, hopefully in the middle of the year.

If it's any great amount of time... forget about it.

FTR, how many teams in the NFL has a # 3 QB that is NFL starting material. All NFL teams face the same problem as we have now.....
