We all know that kendrell bell was a stud in pittsburgh and sammy knight and surtain were awesome in miami. I have read some complaints about the way that kendrell bell has been playing. IMO he hasnt really done anything spectacular this year on defense. But then i start to think about how he was so good in pitssburgh, and came to this conclusion: our D scheme sucks ass and bell has been pretty much non-existant as a result. Now there is no doubt that the scheme would be better with better D-lineman and corners (mccleon). Better D-lineman can cause double teams and free a blitzing bell or DJ. Wth the lineman we have there is really no threat or push except for allen. this is probably the reason that bell has not been a significant contributor to the D.

Can't help but wonder if switching from ILB in a 3-4 defense to OLB in a 4-3 defense might have something to do with it. If so, then he should improve as the season progresses. If Warfield can return to last year's form, then Gun should have the LB's blitzing more.

I'd love to see a healthy Shawn Barber return soon. A 3-4 with Barber/Johnson on the outside and Bell/Mitchell on the inside could be the answer on defense. Just a thought.

yes, i completely forgot about barber. hopefully gunther lets warfield play next week. we are going to need him
