Chiefs vs. Bills - Talent Comparison

Feel free to critique.

QB - Green vs. Kelly Holcomb - Don't look now, but Holcomb has had a QB rating over 90 in two of the three seasons he's had over 100 attempts. Now the good news: he's had over 100 attempts 3 times in 10 seasons, and the only time he had 200+ attempts his QB rating was 74.6. 7/3

HB - Johnson vs. Willis McGahee. McGahee has a career average of 4.1 yards and is not a huge threat out of the backfield. I don't see why he's such a big deal. I like Johnson's 4.9 career average better. 6/4

FB - Richardson vs. Damion Shelton. Solid 262-lb. blocker. Has one carry in 1+ season with Buffalo, and 23 catches. Gimme Richardson's versatility. 6/4

WR - Kennison vs. Eric Moulds. Moulds is a short-pass guy now. He hasn't averaged more than 12.9 yards per catch since 2001. He and Kennison both have 37 catches this year, but Moulds has 363 yards and Kennison has 548. Moulds is a talent, but he's not that scary. 5/5

WR - Boerigter (?) vs. Lee Evans. Evans has 18 catches this year for a 13 yard average. Not scary production, but then Boerigter isn't scary, either. (Is Boerigter starting? Parker? Someone else?) 3/7

TE - Gonzalez vs. Mark Campbell. Bills have a low-production tight end position. Cambell has 11 catches this year and is ahead of last year's pace. Not a huge blocker-type, either, at 255 lbs. 9/1

LT - Black vs. Mike Gandy. Former Bears backup/starter in his first year in Buffalo. Third-round pick. Nothing special, but...you know. 3/7

LG - Waters vs. Mike Williams?. Mammoth 360 lber, former #4 pick in the draft. Playing on a hurt ankle, probable starter at LG for the first time in his career. May be a good move in the long run, but it will hurt this week. 8/2

C - Wiegman vs. Trey Teague. Former cheating, chop-blocking low-round-pick Denver lineman. Unclear if he still cheats with Bills. 6/4

RG - Shields vs. Chris Villareal. Another former Bear. That means a lot. Shields would kill him in a typical year, but is a bit off this year. 7/3

RT - Welbourne vs. Jason Peters. Peters was drafted as a tight end - a really, really big tight end at 328 lbs. He's a backup left tackle now making his second consecutive start at RT. May be good in the long run, but Welbourne has an advantage at the moment. 6/4

K - Tynes vs. Rian Lindell. Lindell is having a good year just like Tynes. 5/5

P - Colquitt vs. Brian Moorman. 5th-year punter is having a good gross year (45.7), but his net is only 1.6 yards more than Colquitt's 36.0. Plus Colquitt's caused - what, 8? - fumbles this year. For that reason, go with Colquitt. 6/4

KR/PR - Hall vs. Terence McGee (KR) and Nate Clements (PR). McGee is a legitimate threat, with 6 of his 20 returns this year being 40+ yards. Hall has 5 in 34 attempts. Clements is pedestrian. Interestingly, these two guys are their starting corners, so let's hope that the Scanlon/Grigsby team knocks them silly. 6/4

FS - Wesley vs. Troy Vincent. Former CB with 46 career INTs is now a pretty good safety. 3/7

SS - Knight vs. Lawyer Milloy. Hard-hitting safety, but has only forced 5 turnovers in 2+ seasons with Buffalo. Knight has 12 in the same time period. 5/5

LCB - Surtain (?) or Washington (?) vs. Terence McGee. Active, solid CB who can force turnovers, against our guy, whoever that might be. Hard to judge since we don't know who'll be out there, but McGee seems solid. 4/6

RCB - Warfield (?) vs. Nate Clements. Clements has forced 28 turnovers in only 4+ years, which is very good. He produces about 50 tackles per year, which is so-so. 3/7

LOLB - Johnson vs. Jeff Posey. Posey is an unimpressive vet with stops in SF, JAC, HOU, and now BUF. Had 8 sacks back in 2002, but nothing else to distinguish him. 7/3

ROLB - Bell vs. Angelo Crowell. Brother of former Lions receiver Germane. 3rd round pick. Inactive on opening day, now starting due to injuries. First year starting, and is being relatively productive despite lack of big plays. Not large at 235 lbs. Not bad statistically, outperforming Bell. 4/6

MLB - Mitchell vs. London Fletcher. Fletcher's a 100+ tackle guy, still very active. Our own Mitchell is really coming into his own (assuming he's not injured - anyone heard?), but isn't yet in Fletcher's league. 3/7

LDE - Hicks vs. Chris Kelsay. Yes, everyone's desired draft pick a couple of years ago. Or not. Low-productivity guy with only about 20 tackles and 2 to 3 sacks per year. 2 interceptions places him above William Bartee on career rankings, though. 275 lbs. I'd give Hicks an edge, believe it or not. 7/3

RDE - Allen vs. Aaron Schobel. Smallish 262 lb. pass rusher. Gets better every year, good for 8 to 10 sacks per year, having a good year so far statistically, almost identical to Allen's. 5/5

LDT - Browning vs. Sam Adams. Founding father is still playing. Kind of a Dalton widebody. No stats, but plugs up the middle. Browning is out-stats-ing him, but who are we kidding? 2/8

RDT - Dalton vs. Tim Anderson. Who? Third-round pick in second year. Biggish 304-lber. got starting job just last month. Not a world-beater, but neither is Dalton. Actually is outperforming Dalton statistically given that he hasn't been a starter all year. 4/6

Totals

Offense: Chiefs 66, Bills 44
Special Teams: Chiefs 17, Bills 13
Defense: Bills 63, Chiefs 47

You need to work on the layout.

Ah. A nice suggestion. Let's try it.

I added a nice Monet print to the middle now, too. I think it adds some visual appeal.

Seems fair analysis.
Maybe MLB 4/6. Give Mitchell alittle more credit.

Those words could be very edible come Sunday.
