That's too bad for Tavares.

It seems to me like Canada's really leaning on Weber/Doughty to generate the offense from the point, either redirecting in or punching in the rebounds (or just drilling it in from the blue line). Hopefully Quick can handle those, or we can get enough presence/pressure at the point to reduce those opportunities.

Yeah, on one hand, the US is rolling and it's like they've been playing for years together, while Canada might just be finding their stride... OTOH, I think the game vs Latvia was good for Canada, and things can dramatically change from game to game, simply based off Quick (or Price) having an off night or an insanely good night.

I like their chances... might have to "work from home" tomorrow.

Almost more than that, I feel sorry for the Islanders. Not that they were a great team in the first place, but losing him will pretty much make the remainder of their season unwatchable.

True... I was rooting for them last season... sucks they lost their mojo (and goaltending and ability to score).

There seems to be a certain amount of mystery behind the whole NHL/Olympics thing and the chance that the NHL continues to take time off for the Olympics... not sure how much support there is by the owners, but major injuries like this certainly don't help.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. On the other hand, I think Olympic hockey is one of the best marketing tools the NHL has. Tons of people have been asking me about the rules of hockey and that kind of thing, and you have to think at least some of them will continue to watch the NHL after the Olympics end.

The other thing about B-Rush is that he never lied. Coach Self would be like, “Did everyone make curfew last night? If you didn’t make curfew, raise your hand.” All of us that broke curfew kept our hands down — except B-Rush. He’d raise his hand and tell on himself. Coach Self would ask him why he didn’t make curfew and he’d say, “Because the club was crackin’!” Everyone would laugh and he’d make B-Rush run a little bit.

I so wish Boxing was that way. Instead, Olympic boxing uses a completely outdated scoring system that is RAMPANT with payoffs and corruption.

Definitely. Ovechkin also came out and said he was going to Sochi regardless of what the NHL said, and I'm sure other players would follow (home ice or not). I don't think there's much downside besides the possibility of injuries, but that risk might actually go down with the larger ice surface (OTOH, more teams seem to be playing a harder checking/North American style these days).

Watching the women bang around (no, not like that) right now.

The pepperoni and syrups are putting up quite the fight. I'm impressed.

When do the men play next?...

Professional boxing has it's issues, sure. But it's nowhere near the level of the corruption problems in Olympic boxing.
