Eric Hicks MUST be replaced for 2006?

Agree or disagree?

I say replacing Hicks is a very high priority for '06.

I strongly disagree with this statement. It should read, "Eric Hicks MUST be replaced for 2004."

It depends. If we start 1-3, I want Hicks around, cause no one handles being 1-3 better than he does.

I dont know, His numbers were much better than Carlos Hall and only a few behind Allen. He forced 2 fumbles and had 4 sacks. I'm not saying he is a probowler and a better passer rusher would help but out DT are much more needed.

Carlos Hall played about 10% of the snaps that Hicks played. So, his numbers would be much lower. Hicks doesn't compare to Allen.

Replaced as a starter without question. Kept on the roster as a backup and depth.

I think, next year, the team needs are WR, DT, OL, DE, QB, FB, S in that order. Honestly, I don't care if they come from FA or the draft. However, I do think the WR and DT need to start and make in impact in '06. The others can just be contributors in '06 and starters in '07 and/or '08.

I have no problem replacing Hicks. I can only see that as a possibility only if Dick and Gun are not here next year.

We also have to keep in mind, their are contract issues. I think we have him locked up for the next 4 years. I do not know all the details behind his contract, but, yeah Im open to replacing him.

With all this being said, here are some DE that are FA's next year:

Aaron Kampman UFA Packers
Anthony Weaver UFA Ravens
Antonio Cochran UFA Cardinals
Antwan Lake UFA Falcons
Brandon Green RFA Rams
Carl Powell UFA Bengals
Carlos Hall UFA Chiefs
Cory Redding RFA Lions
Darren Howard UFA Saints
Demetric Evans UFA Redskins
DeQuincy Scott UFA Chargers
Jacques Cesaire RFA Chargers
Jared DeVries UFA Lions
Jarret Johnson RFA Ravens
Jimmy Wilkerson RFA Chiefs
Joe Tafoya UFA Seahawks
John Abraham UFA Jets
Juqua Thomas UFA Eagles
Kalimba Edwards UFA Lions
Kemp Rasmussen UFA Panthers
Kenny King RFA Cardinals
Kenny Peterson RFA Packers
Kimo von Oelhoffen UFA Steelers
Kyle Vanden Bosch UFA Titans
Lance Johnstone UFA Vikings
Marcellus Wiley UFA Jaguars
Marco Coleman UFA Broncos
N.D. Kalu UFA Eagles
Orpheus Roye UFA Browns
Raheem Brock UFA Colts
R-Kal Truluck UFA Cardinals
Robert Mathis RFA Colts
Rodney Bailey UFA Seahawks
Ross Kolodziej UFA Cardinals
Ryan Denney UFA Bills
Travis Hall UFA 49ers
Tyoka Jackson UFA Rams
Willie Whitehead UFA Saints

We need to improve the DT position before removing Hicks.

Hicks is what he is: average. Not good, not piss poor, just average.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
