Car Stereo Question

I have a 3 year old Kenwood head unit in a 12 year old vehicle. 6 months ago my antenna stopped working. In order to receive a station I have to be in its originating city.

Are the chances better that its the head unit, or the actual stick? How can I trouble shoot this? (The antenna is still plugged in)

Its probably the head unit going bad. I used to be able to pick up a station in my hometown pretty good, then out of nowhere I cant even pick that station up in the town its from. My head unit is probably a year old and my car antenna is actually probably a year old too. So I doubt its my car antenna.

Maybe somewhere your antenna wire thing broke or came off. But in my truck that would be a lot of digging around in my dash to look for it. I have been able to pick up a few stations with no antenna, although they werent very clear.

As long as there is no break in the line and you are 100% sure it is plugged in, It has to be the head unit. If you want to be sure, go down to some stereo shop, plug in a new antenna (about 10 seconds of your time) and see what happens. All those guys have a bunch of opened ones laying around.

Ive never considered Kenwood gear cheap. Our primary home stereo is a Kenwood I bought in '93. Still serves its purpose. I've never heard of a tuner just stop "tuning" after 3 years time. It really blows.
