We are way to far down (20th) to make a big jump and we need lots of fresh blood coming in as the vets are getting up there.

Generally speaking, you have to pay a substantial premium over and above what the often cited value chart says to move up in the draft. This is going to be even more severe in a deep draft like this. If you want to make a big move, your going to have to part with alot of really key assets.

What we need to do is make some solid FA moves and draft for the future.
In this draft I would look at Oline, D Line, DBs, and a HB. The best thing about this team (if Roaf and Shields come back) is that there really isn't a huge hole to fill. Sure we could use some upgrades at certain positions, but thats ture with every team. |

I say we make a trade and trade our draft pick for 2 lower picks with at least one coming in the first round. I mean face it, you never know if a player is going to live up to his potential in the NFL. The more picks you get, even if they are lower, gives you a better shot at striking gold. Jared Allen was a 4th round pick....

picking 20th isn't as bad as you may think. the fact that this draft includes a lot of offensive firepower at the top, maybe there's a chance some defensive player might fall in between 10-20.
The key for us is to draft right. no more drafting a 1st rounder who can't contribute in 2006. We need to make sure our 1st round draft will start in 2006 |

and what the F*** did we do with our 2004 1sr round pick? We traded down for extra picks we got (2nd rounders) Siavii and Kris Wilson. All of the above mentioned did not do squat for us til their 2nd or 3rd season. I can understand reaching for a prospect in day 2 of the draft. Here's a quick breakdown of our 1st rd picks 1998 Victor Riley 1999 John Tait 2000 Sylvester Morris 2001 (Trent Green) trade 2002 Ryan Simms 2003 *Larry Johnson 2004 (traded down for extra picks) 2005 Derrick Johnson 2006 -- seems like the Johnsons fair well when we draft them with our 1st round pick ![]() |

Marcus Spears 2005 Kenechi Udeze 2004 George Foster 2003 Javon Walker 2002 Casey Hampton 2001 Not a bad group aside from the cheap shot Donkey. I agree that at 20th there isn't any reason we can't find talent that should start this coming year.
