Big Bang Bunk? New Science suggests just that...

I thought this was interesting. I'm not a scientist, but I wonder what the resident science geeks here make of this. I put it in DC just because it will inevitably devolve into a God vs. Science argument, but perhaps before it does, we could get some intelligent thoughts on this. You know, before the CP Poop Slinging begins:

Quote:
Could the Big Bang theory be wrong? A proposed new model of the universe argues yes the universe has no origin point at all.
In science, the theories with the most staying power are the ones that explain what we don't know with the most simplicity and elegance. And surprisingly enough, the simplest new theory in quantum physics may be the one that's most difficult for us to wrap our heads around: That the universe has been around since, well, forever.

Up until now, the theory that's made the most logical sense to explain how the universe began is the Big Bang, which holds that the universe came to being about 13.8 billion years ago as a result of a single event that launched the universe into a continuous state of expansion. Although this theory has long held its own as a way of understanding Einstein's theory of general relativity, as scientists have delved deeper into the fascinating world of quantum physics, the Big Bang model has been a bit shakier.

The majority atheist scientific community are realizing they must start running from this theory now because it fits in with creation because all it shows is there must be a designer at the beginning as Einstein suggested long ago. This universe is just waaaaaaaaaaay to fine tuned

The propaganda begins But still how does something come from nothing apart from a creator ??

I thought the Big Bang Theory was "settled science"...kinda like man made global warming...

Then who created the creator?

Human brains are limited by such concepts as time and distance. When applied to the vastness of the universe, our brains struggle to deal with it. If creating a sky-god helps you do that, then great, but it's hardly a logical requirement to the existence of the universe.

And I have no idea what you mean by the universe being fine tuned. Stars are born and die all the time. Entire solar systems crash into each other. The galaxy is a massive and beautiful dance of chaos and destruction in many ways.

That article is all wrong. It's a lot more likely that all of this began at a certain point in time. Inverse tachyon beams are known to be able to create temporal anomalies. It's theoretical of course, but if you could somehow create a static warp shell inside of it you might be able to slow and perhaps stop the time/anti-time reaction and restore the subspace field between the two.

It's a paper written by a apologist. Currently there's no acceptance of the paper till it's thoroughly reviewed. It changes nothing. There are always those that cling to the past.

The point is, if scientists are now comfortable with the idea (theory) that the Universe is infinite, then why is it so crazy to believe in an infinite God? The Universe wasn't "created", it just always was. Substitute Universe for God...why is one crazy and the other legit science?

That's as good a hypothesis as the paper is

If it can withstand the same type of scrutiny, or explain things the big bang cannot, then we'll see.

AS far as I can tell this is a brand new model that has very little in terms of scientific scrutinizing. I'm not sure it's worth discussing yet, but it's interesting that a (so far) viable alternative model was created. From the article it indicates they omitted a lot of theoretical data we've needed to make the BB work (dark matter energy for example). Not much to gather from that article though, as it's undoubtedly dumbed down immensely for the lay person.

I don't really care what what the science illiterate zealots think about it, so I don't really see a religion issue here.
