NFL | NBC gives rights to ESPN for Michaels
Thu, 9 Feb 2006 11:38:16 -0800

Updating previous reports, ESPN.com reports NBC traded rights to Ryder Cup matches, Olympics highlights, historic cartoon character Oswald the Rabbit and more to ESPN to acquire the services of Al Michaels, who will be part of their Sunday night game broadcasts. Michaels will join John Madden and NBC will have Bob Costas and Chris Collinsworth as co-hosts of the network's studio show.
NBC gets:
Al Michaels

ESPN gets:
Ryder Cup matches
Olympic highlights
Historic cartoon character Oswald the Rabbit

Oswald the Rabbit is the wildcard IMO...if he still has anything left in him I might give the edge to ESPN

I'd vote for good trade for NBC. Michaels is the single NFL commentator (on all networks) that I actually like consistently. Of course, I couldn't care less about the Ryder cup or the rabbit, so perhaps I'm biased.
