That *is* a good book. Another good one along those lines is Lawrence Wright's 'The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11'.

He also wrote a book called "The Match" that is very good. I enjoyed "The Grand Slam," but "The Match" is better imo.

Thanx for the tip, i'll see if my library has it. But yeah, Gate is incredible, you dont need a masters in poli/sci or world history to make sense of it all. Among the many things i learned, is that in many, many ways i'm a card carrying neocon & i also came out of it with a lot more respect for Paul Wolfowitz than i'd ever had before, i really believe his intentions were for the best.

yeah what's wrong with King lately. I gagged my way through Under The Dome a while ago simply because I refused to not finish it. it sucked. worst SK book I've ever read. I reread The Stand about every 3 years or so. the best SK, that and Talisman. And now for something completely different......reading The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel. little over halfway thru. pretty danged interesting. picked it up in a moment of boredom and can't put it down.

The Drawing of the Three and The Waste Lands were very good, other than you could see some of the King excesses creeping into the latter. After reading the back of Wizard and Glass, I am a little concerned that it will be a letdown but am planning on starting it soon.

It doesn't mean you'll like it, of course, but many consider Wizard and Glass the best of the series.

I didn't know there was a sequel. I liked the first one.
