Darren Howard

I know that we are not going to be that active in free agency but the powers that be have to know we need an upgrade with Hicks. Why not bring in Darren Howard? Also I would say sign a FA safety then we can draft best player available.

I say Wilkerson has the potential to be a good end but has been held back by Vermeil not wanting to play young players. He could learn from Howard and be ready to step in in a year or two. We need someone who can put some pressure on the QB which means he would occupy two blockers.

I'm in favor of cutting Hicks if we can add someone to the mix. I'm not too thrilled with Hicks but we would need someone else if we were to cut him later this offseason or in camp.

Wilkerson needs to stay at DE and get some more snaps. He has filled in at DT and was even the backup NT when we played the 3-4 early last year. I don't have a problem with a guy like him getting snaps at DT in passing situations but he is a better fit at end.

Last year when he started over Allen the coaches especially Gun, said he was the most disciplined and tecniqually sound DL. This latest interview with Gun he said he just needs more playing time and needs to make more big plays. Hell, I wouldn't mind him starting at LE if we can't get an upgrade there.

I wouldn't mind us going after Howard. He had a bad year last year and has a very questionable attitude. But that was for New Orleans and their Owner, GM , ETC are a bunch of idiots. Plus with the terrible situation they were faced with it's not hard to imagine players wanting out of their. Hell Bentley said he would rather retire than play there if they would have tagged him.

Another problem is Howard will turn 30 this fall. If we could get a good deal money and cap wise it would be worth it. I'd say Edwards could get a good judgment on his attitude if we did work him out.

One thing i am suprised to see is that the Eagles worked him out. They rarely even look at Older DL or players in general.

The fact is, we don't really have a clue what Wilkerson is capable of as an end.

His primary playing time has been at DT, and at 280 lbs, he simply isn't suited for that role.

The fact that he wasn't completely overwhelmed by the interior beef speaks well for his desire, if nothing else.

Let's move him outside and at least have him compete for Hicks position.

Of course, I have very little faith in Gunt's evaluation, so chances are, he'd make a bad decision anyway.

pretty much ... but then again, do we really know what we have in any of our defensive players?

the lack of idea we have about who is good and who is bad says loads about the coaching IMO.
