I have a pre-order already. I'd rather them wait to launch it and have a superior system then rush it.

I don't agree with that at all.

They delayed the PS2 and it still didn't have all the features they said it would.

Considering that the system is going to cost Sony approximately 800 bucks to manufacture, I can definitely see the need for the delay (especially in regard to the on-the chip emulation system). It should be interesting to see how truly badass the Cell processor is.

Limited number of consoles available before christmas and launching before black friday...And I am calling BS on making 6million units in four months, they could not do half that when the ps2 came out and they have less factories and workers now then before...

Xbox could have a pretty large share by then. PS3 will need to be more and more superior to take hold the later it comes out.

Still, I think PS3 is going to own 360 technologically like Xbox owned PS2.

The big positive for 360 from this, is that the delay will give Bungie and Mirosoft more time to release Halo 3. If Halo 3 makes as big of a splash as Halo 2 did and it happens before PS3 is even out, it may be PS3's doom.

Right now, it costs Sony almost $900 to manufacture one unit. Unless that changes dramatically, don't plan on it being under $500. Nobody takes a 50% loss.

The XBox owned the PS2 technologically, but still undersold because of the market penetration PS2 gathered prior to the XBox release...

Ahh but they do in the video gaming industry. Consoles are almost always sold at a high loss rate and then money is later recouped through licensing and development fees with video game development companies.

It's worked this way for several generations of consoles now.

My take is that the high def DVD functionality will give the PS3 the edge. The target market at $500 is guys in their 20s. Same demographic who are buying HD television will also want the latest technology.
