Do we want Turley?

I've heard he's good, but might not be compatible with some teammates. I'm sure this has been talked about in other threads that I haven't read. Just wondering what the general Chiefs fan thoughts on the subject are.

He's a frick'n pro-bowl Tackle - former first rounder costing us next to nothing against the cap, while our starting LT of the past 3 years is talking about how he's retired and his body can't take it any longer.... of course we want him.

Wasn't he injured, though? How long has it been since he's played?

I found an article on foxsports saying that his playing style on the field was mean and crazy, but that he is very charitable off the field. Sounds like a good mix to me.

You mean as opposed to if Roaf comes back?

Hmmm, that's something I hadn't really thought about...

He has been healing from a back injury and has not played in 2 years.

BUT, rumors from camp say that his foot and hand work has been impeccable and that once he is around the 290 mark, he will be back to his old self.

I big problem comes in replacing a future Hall-of-Famer Those are too big of shoes to fill without seeing some sort of repercussions.

Sorry I misunderstood you before. He is a big question mark who is slowly turning it into an exclamation point. Of course, durability is going to be a huge factor no matter how well he does this year...

Kyle Turley is about to make a return to the NFL from a two-year hiatus.

FOXSports.com has learned that the former Saints and Rams tackle has agreed in principle to a two-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. The contract has yet to be signed but the team expects Turley to arrive at the Chiefs complex on Monday to sign the deal and complete a physical. Turley recently tried out for the Dolphins as a tight end but agreed to play tackle with the Chiefs, although they could work him in at TE in some cases as well.
Turley started every game but one from 1998-2003, but a back injury sidelined him after the 2003 season and Turley has not played since.

If he wins the starting right tackle job then both of the Chiefs' starting tackles would be former Saints first-round picks under former New Orleans team president Billy Kuharich, now the Chiefs VP of Player Personnel.

Turley's persona on the football field is one of a mean, angry and sometimes crazy player. Off the field, however, he is one of the NFL's most charitable players. He helped raise considerable funds in the wake of 9/11 and then last year after Hurricane Katrina drove down to New Orleans to help out and even offered to take a truck to Saints players homes, load them up, and drive their belongings to San Antonio. Turley also helped raise a considerable sum of money to help the victims of this disaster.

Turley had reportedly dropped 50 pounds from his playing weight at tackle when he tried out at tight end. It's unclear what his weight currently stands at

Would we play him at tackle or tight end?

He tried out at TE with the Dolphins before he put on more weight. It is defintily looking like he will play tackle now.

Tackle.

That whole TE experiment is done.

No one was buying at TE.

He's currently taking first team snaps at LT. Barring Roaf's return and a complete relapse of the back injury he'll be starting there come opening weekend.

That's pretty much it, sans the "Two New Orleans tackles now starting for KC."

He's good, make no mistake about it. Let his ability never be questioned. The only questions there should be are how quickly he will return to his former skill level and whether or not he will hold up to injury.

Yeah that pretty much describes him. He seems like a really great guy to have around with his intensity. The stuff with Martz happend around the time his body was breaking down and Martz is known to be a bit of a bitch at times.
