Sources tell NFLtalk that Broncos Defensive Coordinator Greg Robinson has been fired... Also, wire reports indicate that, as expected, the Rams got rid of their defensive coordinator Peter Giunta, in addition to 3 defensive assistants -- defensive line coach Carl Hairston, secondary coach Steve Brown and special teams coach Larry Pasquale

bishop - All Chiefs coaches are off this week, according to kcchiefs.com. I don't think Carl is going to decide who goes and who stays, as long as Gun is the HC he will be the one to let them go (of course as we all know there is some pressure from Carl to dump some of these guys). I also doubt that they have the lack of class to fire them while on vacation.

There is also no need to fire them when replacements are not yet available or lined up for hire. Besides, the longer the assistants don't get fired, the more likely it is that Gun could get fired. I'm guessing a decision on Gun has not been made yet...

Morphius-

Don't be so sure of things. My take on the issue is that Gunther will be retained but his coaching staff will undergo a series of changes. Schottenheimer has one foot on the Jayhawks front porch.

I think, not confirmed, but I think Carl is giving this more thought than previously thought.<P>

Marty - I meant to imply that Carl will probably not be the one to announce and do the firing, but there will be pressure on Gun from him the changes. As for Gun I think he might make it to next season, but if Carl is thinking harder about it then things could get very interesting next week.

Losing Kurt is a good thing, fire the other 2 and lose one to a College team, not a bad deal for us fans.

All I am saying is CARL, get you sh*t together and take care of business. It is rediculous that a playoff team is firing coaches before we are.

My bet is that MaGoo and Raye will both be retained while Kurt and Stock are fired. MaGoo will point out the "explosion" of the passing game as his reason for keeping Raye. fact is, it was by default and it didn't produce points once teams started defending it. No Balance at all on offense for 3 straight seasons is more than enough for me. The fact that Gun kept this staff together is reason enough for him to get canned IMHO. That's how I see it anyway.

TX - Unfortunitly I see things the same way. Add in the fact that we had 2 1200 yard receivers and some other blah blah babble babble, but 2 of 3 stooges is a start.

Morph, Agreed it will be a good place to start but next year 2 more will go. Why are the OBVIOUS decisions always delayed? I've said many times that with the Chiefs, this years plan is next seasons priority when things don't work out. How long did it take them to realize that Stoyo was DONE? How many games did it cost the Chiefs? How many games did this years staff cost the Chiefs? I'm still not sure that they even realize that they need a featured RB and that ticks me off to no end!
