Good info!
I was at best buy today looking at the LCD's about 36-40" for my bedroom, was just looking not doing serious shopping, what is the best one for the money? Seems to me the LCDs picture is much clearer and has more color. Anyway thanks for all the info!

The best LCD TVs for the price, or just in general, are Samsungs. You can get a 32" for 900 bucks online, and it will cost you close to 1200 at BB. If you aren't looking to spend a mint, Olevia TVs generally get great reviews. They aren't going to be quite as crisp as the Samsung, but they are pretty close. You could get a 37 (with no tuner) for around 800 or a 37 (with HD tuner) for about 900. You could get a 32" with no tuner for 600 from NewEgg right now.

Thanks
I wasn't plan on buying it at BB but I was there getting my new Sirius Sat. radio picked up. I have bought a few things from BB and never ever had a problem unlike others but then again I don't make major purchases there either...Sat. radio was only like 150 or so don't consider that major. I was just wanting peoples opinions....thanks.

Another question for you gurus?
I use Dish network, don't have the HD package yet as I don't have a HD tv. I figure when I buy a HdTV then I will upgrade, what does the tuner do with it?

If your TV has an HD tuner, then you can pull in HD signals through an antenna, if it doesn't, you need an external device to help you pull in those signals. It's really not a big deal if your TV doesn't have one, because most modern Cable and satellitle receivers have tuners built into them. If you get the Dish 622 HD receiver, you won't have to worry about getting a TV with a tuner, because it has one built into it to pick up over the air signals. Even if your TV doesn't have a tuner and you don't have an antenna hooked up, your receiver will allow you to view both HD and SD programming that your provider offers (as long as you have an HDTV receiver and HDTV, of course).

I'm bringing this thread back for a little while.
I'll be coming into a pile of cash soon, and I think this is where I'm going to invest it. This is a helpful article, but it's a few months old, so I was wondering if there was any new info. Right now I'm leaning toward a 50" plasma 1080p. The reason is because I want a big screen, I may want to hang it in our next house, and our living room right now isn't brightly lit, so apparently the colors are better in that case. I'm staying away from LCD because of the sports watching aspect. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

you really cannot judge pictures at the store, sad but true. The inputs and settings are so jacked up. You are best to read reviews, and narrow it down to a couple of choices.
