It would be REALLY cool if the NFL had to move the game to SF!

Won't happen, but it would be cool.

Major power outage etc.
I wouldn't bet against it.

Denver couldn't get out and have to forfeit

*Snicker* Oh boy, the poor bastards at the Donk airport won't know what to do again. They acted like it was the first time that it had ever snowed during the Christmas storm. Hey fellas, you live in the fricken Mountains! Get your chit together.

Well, having worked at an airport for 3 years (in KC), I can tell you from experience it has nothing to do with the runways not being cleared.

Each flight has hundreds of people working on it, and each person plays a vital role in your plane's ability to take off and land.

You have the ground crew: the guys who fuel the airplanes, to the catering, to the baggage handlers, to the mechanics, etc., etc.

You must have the flight crew personnel: the pilots and the flight attendants must be there. Most often, they arrive from another flight/city. This is why fog in San Francisco for two days make other flights around the country delayed. If the planes cannot depart, then the crew cannot arrive in Chicago to make the next flight. Therefore, peeps in Chicago must wait, and the peeps waiting for the Chicago flight- say Atlanta then must wait as well.

You then have all the peeps working inside the airport from ticketing agents to security. If they can't make it to the airport, then you can't get on the airplane.

A few years ago, DIA was open and ready for business during a bigger snowstorm than what we just experienced, but nobody could get there to work; therefore, flights were cancelled even though the runways were cleared and ready.

Flight crews aside, they KNOW it's coming, tell the DIA workers living in Denver if they can't get to DIA after the snow starts, they'd better get there BEFORE it starts.

OK. Then how bout you do the same for your job? You know there's a major storm coming in and instead of driving home and being with your family, you stay in the office and sleep on the floor under your desk so you'll be there even though the office will be closed.

You're asking hundreds of people to actually stay at the airport, get paid overtime, and wait out a "possible" major storm? Right.

How do you get the pilots and the rest of the flight crew to Denver BEFORE the storm? They are supposed to change all of their planned routes in other cities just so they can be in Denver before a storm.

Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Last time I checked the world does NOT revolve around if the airports work or not , if people are traveling in winter it's their own fault, if they end up stranded.

They can all read the weather forecasts on TV.....
