Yes, I can. Sure, they could make a stripped down EV that weighed nothing that could get that kind of range, but people like their conveniences.

I don't disagree with you that people like their conviences but even with a heavier car and a lot more luxuries, the battery technology HAS to be much better than it is now. If you look at most sectors since 1992 they are far advanced.

Look I'm not a conspirity theorist in the least but it does make perfect sense that as long as that market is limited it keeps the money flowing for the other industries.

Its all about money

So if the president can only influence gas prices by a small percentage, why is it that they seem to drop a significant amount during election year?

Somehow, I don't think they actually do. They just seem like it, but honestly, I'd bet if you look at the history of it, it doesn't really drop due to elections.

I don't see how The Prez can have any influence at all. Oil's a commodity that's controlled by speculators, the markets, OPEC etc. I know he could use some executive power to release the reserve but isn't that about his limits?

Yes, releasing from the SPR and/or maybe a nice war are one of the few things POTUS can do to influence crude pricing. Also, of course, is really going after our own reserves.

I thought so, I see alot of bitching about Obama screwing everything up blaming prices on him. I would think, why blame him he doesn't have much power over it.
