J. Clayton (ESPN) "Raiders Eager to Unload Moss"

Raiders eager to unload Moss
posted: Saturday, April 28, 2007 | Print Entry

How desperate are the Raiders to trade Randy Moss? They called Mike Shanahan of the Broncos. Shanahan and the Raiders have been at odds since Al Davis fired him and the Raiders shorted him several hundred thousand dollars of pay. The Shanahan-Raider rivalry is one of the best in the league. Despite the call, don't expect any Moss-to-Denver trade.

Another Raider on the block: After the Raiders selected tight end Zach Miller in the second round, they told tight end Courtney Anderson, their starter last season, that he's being shopped around. Anderson played 62 percent of the downs last season and has been starter since his rookie season. Anderson was a seventh-round success story from San Jose State. He should draw some interest.

Jenkins staying put: Earlier in the week, the Rams were considering a trade for Panthers defensive tackle Kris Jenkins. The Panthers wanted a first-round choice. The Panthers were considering an offer of a second-round choice and maybe a little bit more. In the end, nothing happened. The Rams were able to get Adam Carriker in the first round and now any thoughts of getting Jenkins are done. Carriker can help the Rams at defensive end or at defensive tackle. Head coach Scott Linehan said he could play up and down the line.

Dollars and sense: Marv Levy checked out the character questions of Cal running back Marshawn Lynch and came away feeling good about taking him as the Bills' first-round pick. Although it may be tough changing running backs every couple years, the Bills made a decent economic decision. Veteran running backs cost $5 million to $6 million a year. Getting Lynch at No. 12 pick will cost the Bills less than $4 million a year. Some teams have to watch their dollars.

O-linemen for sale: After drafting Central Michigan left tackle Joe Staley, the 49ers could have two offensive linemen available for trade -- guard Justin Smiley and tackle Kwame Harris. Smiley has been shopped around for more than a month. His contract is up at the end of the year. Although the 49ers believe he's a very good starter, they don't expect to meet the cost of what he might get on the free-agent market. Harris hasn't been that long-term answer at tackle, so he can be had in a trade.

Passing interest: The Ravens apparently had some interest in trading up for QB Brady Quinn. With Kyle Boller's days in Baltimore running out and Steve McNair being in his final couple seasons, the Ravens were looking at the future in a possible trade.

----------------

They must REALLY want him gone to call anyone in the AFC West... Not just the Brownco's...

Wow...
