Herb Taylor... 6th round pick

http://gofrogs.cstv.com/sports/m-foo...herbert00.html

Overall: Taylor was redshirted in 2002. He then stepped in as the starting right tackle for all 13 games during the 2003 season. Taylor again started all 11 games in 2004 and all 12 games in 2005. Taylor started all 13 games during the 2006 season. He tallied 49 consecutive starts for the Horned Frogs at right tackle since taking over as a redshirt freshman in 2003.

Taylor's mobility makes him a perfect fit for a team that features zone blocking and/or values athleticism over size, such as the Colts and Falcons. He has good upside because of his feet and we like the aggressive, smart and physical manner in which he plays the game. If Taylor can get bigger and stronger while adjusting to the NFL, he could become a mid-round steal from the 2007 draft class.

"POSITIVES: Shows good hand placement and foot shuffling technique, doing a good job of spinning out to neutralize the edge rush … Runs with a normal stride and shows good flexibility and balance moving in space … Shows functional lateral quickness and slide agility … Plays with good aggression and is a smart player who understands checks, making good adjustments at the line of scrimmage … Motivates the other linemen and is the type who puts in extra hours after practice … Has adequate initial quickness off the snap and is quick to shoot his hands, striking with good pop to gain leverage … Scoops and seals with a quick, aggressive first step and pops up quickly in pass protection … Brings his feet well to gain movement coming off the snap and takes a hard step on contact, flashing explosion to cut and block linebackers … Does a nice job of getting underneath the pads of a defender and has the functional leg drive to wall off … Can seal and shows good ability to widen the hole … Comes out of his stance quickly on traps and pulls, showing good agility to get out and neutralize the defender on the perimeter … Adjusts on the move and lands with modest force … Plays with good patience on the edge, letting the defender make the first move and then countering … Sets with a good base and knee bend in pass protection and shows the ability to extend and separate … Can handle the switches to pick up line stunts and moves well to cut off the speedy pass rusher."

Sounds like Solari might make him a good one.

Strengths: A quick and nimble offensive tackle prospect. He's a natural knee-bender. Possesses good initial burst, takes solid angles to blocks and can get into position quickly. Shows good lateral mobility and is an effective zone blocker. Possesses good range and flashes the ability to get into position at the second level. Gets into pass set quickly and uses arms to ride edge rushers past the pocket. Has quick feet and redirect inside after starting outside. Shows good awareness, keeps head up and does a good job of picking up the blitz as well as stunts. He shows a great passion for the game and plays with a mean streak. He also has an excellent work ethic.

Weaknesses: He's undersized and needs to add bulk to his frame in order to match-up at the next level. Lacks ideal lower body strength and has problems driving defenders off the ball. Lacks the base to anchor versus powerful bull rushers. Doesn't always play under control in space and is an inconsistent cut blocker that lunges too much.

Overall: Taylor was redshirted in 2002. He then stepped in as the starting right tackle for all 13 games during the 2003 season. Taylor again started all 11 games in 2004 and all 12 games in 2005. He has good upside because of his feet and we like the aggressive, smart and physical manner in which he plays the game. If Taylor can get bigger and stronger while adjusting to the NFL, he could become a mid-round steal from the 2007 draft class.

Wow that's interesting. Just what kind of Tackle were you expecting in the 6th round???

Most 6th rounders in this draft probably have a hard time just making a team.

They're all projects at this point.
