no ..... the signing bonus was paid by us and it's cap hit remains with us.

Tampa only takes on the base salary and any roster bonus money yet to be paid.

Exactly.

Money ALREADY paid goes against our cap.

Money TO BE paid goes against Tampa's (that includes his base salary).

The hit should end up being rather minimal at this point I would think.

Bucs Give Conditional 7th-Rounder for Sims --
Wed May 2, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com

ESPN's John Clayton reports the Buccaneers were able to rejuvenate the career of DT Chris Hovan after the Vikings gave up on him. Now, DT Ryan Sims becomes the next Bucs project. The Bucs acquired him for what is believed to be a conditional seventh-round pick. For needs, the Bucs are desperate to find a three-technique defensive tackle. Sims was drafted to be a three-technique tackle in the mold of DT Warren Sapp. He's been mostly a bench warmer the past couple of seasons.

if Sims starts all 16 games and goes to the pro bowl do we get tampa's 1st round pick.

That would be sweet, but I am guessing if he makes the team we get a 7th rounder, and if the Bucc's cut him we get nothing.

And hopefully Carl will save that 7th rounder next year for his obligatory UCLA pick.

Would be sweet if Sims became a 1 season wonder in Tampa. We would get a decent pick then.
