Chiefs agree to terms with 5th round pick RB Kolby Smith

http://kcchiefs.com/news/2007/06/22/...b_kolby_smith/

Quote:
Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Friday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with RB Kolby Smith. Smith is the second of Kansas City’s seven 2007 draft picks to reach an agreement with the club. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.

Smith (5-11, 213) joined the Chiefs as the first of the club’s two fifth-round picks (148th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft. He saw action in 45 games (12 starts) at Louisville, logging 316 carries for 1,892 yards (6.0 avg.) with 18 TDs. He also added 56 receptions for 581 yards and two TDs.

Smith appeared in all 13 contests (10 starts) for the Cardinals in 2006, registering a career-high 154 carries for 891 yards (5.6 avg.) and seven TDs. He also caught 24 passes for 217 yards (9.0 avg.).

The Tallahassee, Florida native earned all-area honors at Rickards High School in Tallhassee, Florida after rushing for 1,300 yards as a senior in 2002.

I'm kinda excited about Kolby Smith. I hope he does well. Let's just hope Bowe will be in camp and not working out a contract.

Kind of a slap in the face to LJ.

Glad to hear we got Smith in.

Come on Carl. Don't let your prized young WR miss precious time in camp.

I don't think there's much of a chance that Bowe will miss any training camp time. He was #23, not #5 or #2. It's pretty well slotted down there.

The only thing that *might* screw it up is if Cleveland decided to pay Brady Quinn more than his spot commands.

Not true, and you know that. Rookie contracts for 5th rounders are supposed to get done at this time. LJ's contract is gonna be worth a whole lot more. I think it's kinda funny the way the media is trying to make everybody think theres a holdout coming and KC isn't treating LJ fairly. You and I both know LJ was Carls pick and he isn't about to let him get away. Carl never lets anybody go that he doesn't want to. He'll get his pay, just like Gonzo did.
