"Worst Congress Ever"

I look at the front page of this leftist forum and I see something like 18 anti Bush threads, mostly started by the same 2-3 people and realized that, not surprisingly, all I notice are the gentle sounds of crickets with regards to the shitty job the Dems are doing in Congress.

Thought I would share the love and open the topic up for some good ole lefty/radical spin.

http://blogs.dailymail.com/donsurber...congress-ever/

Worst. Congress. Ever.
Bush 34, Congressional Democrats 14

The new Reuters poll is out and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have pulled an upset: They have managed to make George Walker Bush twice as popular as Congress.

An even bigger majority, 83 percent, say the Democratic-controlled Congress is doing only a fair or poor job the worst mark for Congress in a Zogby poll.

[DOT DOT DOT]

In the national survey of 1,012 likely voters, taken July 12 through July 14, about 66 percent said Bush had done only a fair or poor job as president, with 34 percent ranking his performance as excellent or good.

[DOT DOT DOT]

While 83 percent said Congress was doing a fair or poor job, just 14 percent rated it excellent or good. Last October, in its final days, the Republican-led Congress earned ratings of excellent or good from 23 percent of voters.

Got that? The Democratic Party gets 14% job approval. Bush 34%.

If this were a Little League game, the 10-run rule would apply.

Congressional Democrats are spinning their wheels trying to get George Bush. Democrats promised not to waste their time impeaching Bush. That is what they are doing. The public disdain for Democrats is overwhelming.

It took 12 years for Republicans to drop to 23%. Dems already are down to 14%. That means even Mom is starting to wonder about you.

14% job approval. Nixon did better. On the day he left office!

Hat tip: Matt Drudge, the scourge of the Democratic Party. Bwa-ha-ha.

UPDATE: Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit: As Ive noted before, this has gone past the point of being funny. Its really worrisome.

There certainly is a flaw in our process. And we dare mock the fledgling Iraqi democracy.

Republicans certainly wont approve of a democratic congress, Democrats dont approve because they havent stopped the war, and Independents NEVER approve of congress.

Congressman = POS. That's it. It's one of those truths of American politics that transcends party, race, sex, everything.

What constitutes an Anti Bush thread? As far as I can tell, just mentioning his name = anti bush to some of his embarassed voters.

I mention his name all the time and I don't get accused of being anti-Bush very often.

What you see right now is the DNC actually running the show as they see fit, for the first time in a long time.

Conservatives don't like it of course... and the Democratic base doesn't like it because they were fed some corny pickup lines, they gave it up, and their phone hasn't rang since.

This is the Democratic leadership trying to implement their will on everything, regardless of what anybody thinks. This is what happens when they know that their base is so loyal they can do whatever they please and they'll never lose support come election time.

You pull the curtain back on all of this, and, well - the approval ratings tell the story.

It's for better or for worse, but it is a necessary evil.

Congress represents the people. It is our voice. If they are not doing our will it is our job to let them know. That's why they are being critiqued more harshly than the Bush Presidency (because they work DIRECTLY for us while Bush whips out the EXECUTIVE PRIVELEGE CARD 100% of the time). We know that the president is not going to listen to us, while at the same time we elected this congress in 2006 to override this president. The people's unhappiness with congress reflects on republicans just as much, if not more, than it does democrats, IMO.

The bottom line is that without the people's representative voice in government (congress), we would have no say. So while you may disapprove of their job performance, their is no direct correlation between being a congressman and being a piece of shit.

Congress is responsible to us. And if we are willing to allow our voice in government to be bribed by big business and right wing zeolots for the sake of raping our national resources, then we are the ones who are at fault. They may be crooks but we are the ones who gave them the keys to the henhouse.

IMO, we are lazy and frightened. We allow our government to bully us with fear tactics and lies because we want to live carefree. We buy their slogans and their rhetoric because we want to believe that the purpose of government is to protect us. But we are ceding our rights and we are giving in to evolutionary fascism, IMO. Congress is our first line of defense.

We just have to do a better job as citizens. We have to stop buying into the PR campaigns and starting evaluating things less ideologically and less monetarily. That is our only hope, IMO. Surely, the profit motive and extreme nationalism were not meant to be the purpose of our existence. I still believe that liberty is man's calling.
