Watching video, doesn't look like it was a part of any angle, just Punk showing up at an indy show and cutting a promo for a young guy. Kinda cool, albeit not much related to the WWE.

They could really use stuff like this to boost him into mega-babyface level when he's back. Whether they do that or not, I don't know. I still think in Vince's mind, Punk has to be the heel in all this.

I'm really enjoying all these random things he's been doing since he won the belt, and I hope they find a way to get the "average" WWE fan to see stuff like this, but I'm not holding my breath.

That said, they need to just make him the anti-hero that he's been the past few weeks. Challenge authority, keep using the "pipe bomb" (mic) to cut people down and let the crowd react how they may depending on the circumstances. Basically, let him keep being CM Punk. The crowd will probably keep cheering him (at least for now), but hopefully WWE doesn't try to make the crowd cheer him.

I don't think they have to do anything to make the crowd cheer him. He got a bigger pop in Boston than Cena did the week before the PPV. As a babyface. After years of working as a heel. And he made that turn in all of two weeks. He did what Randy Orton has been able (or willing) to do for what, 2 years now? I think for as much trouble as they had getting CM Punk chants going during Raw last week, if he'd been in Green Bay, the reaction for him would have been off the charts.

If they do this right (don't cut him off at the knees, don't force him into a heel role) he's the closest thing to a legitimate superstar that they have. And when i say superstar, I'm talking Rock and Austin level, not the next John Cena, who's the biggest star they have right now, but nothing close to the Attitude era.

But they do have to let him be him. You're right about that.

It is obvious the Colt Cabana was working the show, so it's very possible that Punk was just there hanging out with his buddy. From interviews I have listened to, Punk is not the kind of guy to seek the spotlight, although he sure does shine when it is on him.

I love his first line to the kid in the ring......Excuse my language, but you are ****ing awesome. Just completely put over the kid, as it should be.

Little more detail on the story I found out yesterday: the kid has cerebral palsy, and barely has any use of his right arm. So it's even a little bit cooler than it seemed initially.
