Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Have you seen On the Waterfront? If not, that's a classic that holds up great. It's one of my favorite movies.

Idiocracy would be a superb movie if social commentary was the only thing a movie had to deliver on.

Outside of that, it sucked.

It's a great idea for a movie, but the actual movie fell flat. It could have been so much better.

I thought The Other Guys sucked... boring predictible comedy. And ferrell and Wahlberg are 2 of my favorite actors. they really dropped the ball on this one.

Watched The Town with ben affleck as well. probably woulda like it more if it wasn't been affleck in it, but it was still a decent movie. blake lively is hot, BTW.

I watched Burn After Reading last night. Don't bother. It was very slow and didn't have much of the Coen Brothers wit.

Rarely does a movie feel so real. The acting was superb.

Watched The Fighter last night. It seemed like it ended about 30 minutes too early. I was expecting them to show the Gatti fight. Other than that, I'd be stunned if Bale doesn't get an Oscar nomination for his performance. It was awesome. Amy Adams was tremendous, as always, and Wahlberg gave maybe his best performance since Boogie Nights.

Felon was disturbing, violent and satisfying. I thought Kilmer was enjoyable.

There was a documentary a few years back called High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell. They follow several crack heads around. One of them is Dicky Eklund, who is played by Bale in The Fighter. It's pretty good.

I have to disagree with that. My only complaint was the trailer made it seem like it was going to be a comedy. But I still thought it was good, not great, but good.

I'm not sure "beautiful" is the word, but I did thoroughly enjoy that film. Such a great movie: brutal in all it's honesty.
