The Royals Win! The Royals Win! The Royals Win!

Pretty d@mned sorry when you get that excited over a single victory.

Must be what Charger fans felt like when the Chiefs coughed up that hairball last season.

I admit it, I still live and die with them. I missed the radio telecast of the game today, but I was very happy reading the play-by-play, especially the part that described Beltran's three-run homer.

Go Royals!

This morning, Mike Sweeney and Sean Casey narrated the segment on This Week in Baseball showing the best and worst plays from earlier this season. Sweeney is so cool. I really hope that he and Dye stay in KC until their careers are over.

Bob Dole can't stand to listen to the games, but often follows the ESPN Gamecast and always checks the box scores...

IBDHO, Mike Sweeney is the sort of player you build a team around, and Glass/Baird are complete friggin idiots if they let him go elsewhere. (If continuing to let Muser mismanage the pitching staff isn't enough to illustrate thier lack of functional brain cells.)

Bob Dole isn't nearly as big a fan of the Royals as the Chiefs, but the signed Mike Sweeney card hangs right alongside the signed Chiefs cards. Mike's da man.

I am glad they finally got a win. The way they have been going means they should go on a 4, 5, or 6 game winning streak before losing another 7 or 8. Their BP is better than last year, but the starters seem to be losing it early in the game (not all the time). But I do think they are left in the game too long, resulting in a hole the offensive cannot get them out of.

Time to look for a new manager? They improved the BP and the offensive is putting up runs, it just seems the manager is a little slow making decisions on when to bring in a reliever.

I live in PA (grew up in NE Ks) so I get to see very few KC games. I use to listen to the broadcasts over the internet. Now you have to pay to listen to it. I would have paid it this year, but they way the started, I could not justify it. So now I just watch the playbyplay on ESPN.com.

:) I woke up this morning and I was alive. I think it is going to be a good day!!

The pitching does seem marginally better than last season, but the BP still has something like 12 blown saves... Grimsly choked it away yesterday, and reading the recap it looks like he almost did the same in the 8th today.

It was unreasonable to expect the offense to repeat the run output they had last season, but Bob Dole was hopeful...

I love the Royals as much as the next guy. But untill there's some sort of salary cap or revenue sharing(Yeah Right!!) The Royals will be sucking pond scum for years to come.

I must agree about the revenue sharing. You saw how the lack of it resulted in losing Damon. I think he was key to last years run production. At that time, there were four Royals batting .300 or better. (now he is suffering with a .235 average in sunny Calif.)

The Royals must do something to hold on the what they have and get a couple more good pitchers. Then make a decision on a new manager. They don't have to bring one out of retirement, like DV, but someone to breath some new life into the team.

Bob, most of those 12 blown saves came in the first two months.

GO ROYALS!!

Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey, A-Rod.....

What was that about a "big market"?

The Mariners are still step-children when it comes to obtaining revenue.

California - The reason the Mariners did so well in obtaining talent was excellent trades for guys like ARod and Ken Jr. They have elevated to the next level. Just as the Indians did when they received revenues from the new stadium.

I will believe the Twins when I see them in another series. The same is said about one small market team every single year. And that small market NEVER makes a series. The field is unlevel and players are starting to understand with the possibility of teams like the Expos going out of business and lowering the employment opportunities for players.

Expect some change with the upcoming arbitration.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I heard that Brad. When every team has the same opportunity to obtain a marquee player (come on, when was the last time the Royals were in serious contention to get ANY big name in the last 5 years at least if not longer) as a result of a salary cap then i will become excited about the Royals again. I think what we see with the Twins and the A's last year are pretty much flukes. you know when it comes down to it it'll be the Yankees and Braves in the World Series.

Djay - Exactly. This year it is the Twins, last year it was the A's, the year before the Reds..... and as I check the World Series teams for the last three years - I see not a solitary Small Market team in the game.

While a salary cap is excellent in itself, I condone a revenue sharing plan akin to the NFL as well. All TV and goods revenue (or at least a large portion of it) should go to a shared pool for all teams to benefit and insure longetivity.
