Government Restaurants!

So when will this be next?

I can see things 70 years from now, but we can't have private restaurants. Back in the day they were serving food in smoke filled rooms and the places were not serving nutritional food but using transfats.

Care to elaborate?

There isn't enough information to get a drift of where you are going with this.

She is talking about teaching qualifications. I would like to think I could walk into a restaurant and feel that there is some oversight. I have occasionally had to do restaurant inspections under health regulations. I can tell you that it helps.

I'm not talking about public health regs. I'm talking literally about government restaurants. Complete with waitressing and chef's certificates from the state. You know using liscensing to keep out competition.

Well then unless you see a really bad depression and we are talking about soup kitchens, NO. I don't see this at all.

How about using licensing to ensure the personnel able to do the jobs they are hired for. I see this as minor and nothing to be too concerned about. It's something like having a job description that defines your duties and some kind of proof that you have the ability to to that job.

Teachers are basically licensed (certificate), doctors, lawyers, etc.

I would bet that many in metropolitan areas are members of unions which could be the issuing agency should a requirement be made.

Which would you rather have? A license issued by the state you live in that basically validates that the person cooking your meal is qualifed to do so or have the union issue the license/certificate? The state would most likely have fee to get the license and a renewal fee. The union would have a fee to get the license and a renewal fee and union dues.

I would also think that if the state or government were involved in something like this the wait staff would not have to take sub-minimum wage because they get tips.

They flying car is already here. I saw a news story on it and saved it somewhere. There's also an underwater car, a la James Bond out there now too.

But leave it to a liberal to put excessive govt control over activity in the same category as modern inventions. That's called an illogic.

Yeah, who needs the FDA? Consumers will be able to tell which beef has mad cow with their dollars.
