FF Trade

I received an interesting trade offer, and can't decide whether or not to accept it. My RBs are Eddie George, Stephen Davis, and Jamal Anderson. And my WRs are Jimmy Smith, DA, and Rice.

Here's the offer

I give:
S. Davis and Jimmy Smith

I get:
Micheal Bennet and Terrel Owens

S. Davis and Smith are both injury prone, and i heard marty wont use davis for goalline carries, and will use Donnell instead. I also know that micheal bennett is potenitally very explosive in the Min offense. And Terell Owens is a premir WR. Help me! I don't know what to do. And will jamal be as good as bennett?

Jump all over that one! Owens is a better FFL performer than Jimmy Smith - and you already have Eddie George. Marty in Washington = RBbC approach, so Davis' numbers will plummet. Do it! Do it! DO IT! :D

Okay, I've only done fantasy football 1 year (last year). However, I went to the championship that year. So here's my two cents,

TAKE THE DEAL!!!!!!

It would be worth it to just get Owens. He is a big upgrade over Smith in my opinion. We all know how Marty feels about running backs. The more the merrier. Bennett could be huge for the Vikings, but I think Jamal Anderson will have a big year for the Falcons anyway.

I say ..... TAKE THE DEAL.......TODAY......NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the way I look at the situation. BTW I won my league last year.

Michael Bennet is a Rookie and you never know what to expect from rookies but Green guaranteed that he would rush for over 1,000 yards and have 11-12 td's. Just because the coach says it doesn't mean it will happen but he is going to get every opprotunity to succeed in Minnesota.

Owens put up some great numbers last year but he will not have Rice on the other side of the ball helping him out. Does that mean he is not going to put up the same numbers I don't know. But losing Garner and Rice he is now going to be the target of opposing defenses until, or unless, someone else can step up and take some of the pressure off of him.

Smith Good pick up but has some health concerns. He can be a great player but if I remember correctly he would put up great numbers one week and average numbers in others.

S. Davis is a proven commodity. He has put up some very good numbers the last couple of years but will Marty's RBBC approach drop his fantasy numbers. Normally he would be the cornerstone of your team but with Marty as coach I'm not sure what that is going to mean to his numbers.

with all that being said, I think I make the trade.

I've only been doing FFL for one year, but I would say definitely make that deal. Bennett will get a chance to shine in MN, and someone (Owens) has to be on the receiving end of all of Garcia's fat stats! And Rice probably has a little more value to you now that he's a Raider since the deal won't cause you to have 2 WR's with the same bye week.

I would make the trade solely because Stephen Davis is now under Marty. He'll get the yards, but Bennett will get the scores...

Smith may not even be ready to play when it comes down to it.

With Eddie George and Jamal Anderson, you should be fine...

I think you forget about JJ Stokes & Garisson Hearst!! :)

They drafted Kevan Barlow - a highly touted RB by many on this BB - this year as insurance in case Hearst gets injured again.

I think the trade could easily work out in your favor but I don't know that you should pull the trigger...Bennett has not even offically won the starting job yet, even though I believe he will...Plus it is far from clear even if he does win the job there is talk that Chapman would be the 3rd down back and Moe Williams would be the goaline back...If that happens then S.Davis should outperform him cause Culpepper will be stealing rushing yards away from Bennett and you know there is no way in hell Jeff George will be taking any from Davis..

The safest play would be to sit still...

Bob Dole got to watch the Saints-Vikings game last night and Bennett kicked the crapola out of any back on the Saints' roster. Culpepper looked like it was the 8th game of the regular season. Moss dropped at least 2 passes that should have been caight easily.

Brooks looked pretty sharp for N.O. in going 10-for-10 passing.

Bob Dole guesses the point is that Bennett will likely wrap up the starting spot at some point, and the kid looked outstanding.

How can anyone make an intelligent dscision on this trade without knowing what can of scoring the fantasy league has and what kind of league it is? Is it a keeper league? Does it emphasize touchdowns? Yardage? How many starters at each position? Until you tell us what the rules are I couldn't give you an opinion.

Soliday,

Understand your point however due to the fact that it is a RB/WR for a RB/WR makes it much cleaner to analyze without knowing the scoring system...A dynasty type keeper league would be the only thing that would alter my original opinion...

Actually it makes a big difference. In a yardage league Jimmy Smith and Terrell Owens are a push, meaning you're trading Stephen Davis basically straight up for Michael Bennett, a huge risk IMO.

In a TD-league, Owens has an edge over Smith, especially with Fred Taylor healthy. This would help minimize the risk on Bennett, and make the trade more attractive, although I'd still try to push Rice in the trade and settle for moving Alexander.

Overall, I'd pass on the trade, however. The weakness in the original line-up isn't at RB, it's at the #3 receiver Jerry Rice. The proposed trade just adds an unknown at the #3 RB spot without upgrading Rice.

Ok there are two starting RBs and 3 starting Wrs. This is a TD league. 1 point = 20 yards, and a Td = 6 points. And this isn't a keeper league. Oh and I got David Boston in a seperate trade, to replace rice.
