Family Friendly hotels and activities in KC

I'm looking for suggestions for nice family hotels in the KC area. Specifically, something with a water park or nice pool, close to things to do.

I'm also interested in family/kid activities that might not be obvious. Suggestions of the zoo, aquarium, union station and stuff are fine but I'm also interested in less obvious ideas that locals know about.

Thanks

What area? b/c the Great Wolf Lodge out next to Sporting Park Soccer Stadium sounds ideal. But it's a good distance from downtown, 10 or so miles I'd guess.

Plenty of amenities at the lodge itself, including its own small water park, then there's Schlitterbahn, Raceway, shopping, restaurants, all sorts of stuff.

My kids loved coco keys and you'd be by the ball park so maybe you could get so nosebleed tickets and let the young 'uns experience all the outfield stuff?

Here's an activity that my kids love to do. It's north of downtown, but fun just the same...

Yes at Line Creek Park. Mine love that place and I do also. We go to train day there every year.

Bonner Springs - about 5 miles from the Legends (Great Wolf Lodge) has a marble factory. Solid 1.5 hours spent for U13 age. http://www.moonmarble.com/

Schlitterbahn is next door.

SKC is across the street - if they are playing that's a kid-friendly environment.

There's ice rinks in JOCO, batting cages, etc.
