Marcus Peters Named Defensive Player of the Week

A day after being selected to the Pro Bowl, Chiefs rookie corner Marcus Peters was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performances in a 34-14 win over the Ravens.

Peters sealed that game with a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown and added a second interception for good measure on the very next drive. He finished the day with three tackles and four passes defended, giving him 23 on the year.

Peters has been huge for the Chiefs this season, recording seven interceptions a year after Kansas City had six as a team. He's now taken two back for touchdowns and will deservedly be off to the Pro Bowl for his efforts.

It won't be long, and Peters might be able to add Defensive Rookie of the Year to his list of achievements.

Peters has been targeted a cornerback-high 123 times this season, but quarterbacks have a mediocre 72.6 passer rating when throwing at the rookie.

That, along with besting the INT total for the entire team from last year, are really impressive.

Wow. I didn't realize he had seven interceptions. That's spectacular.

He'll probably hold out at the end of his contract and go home to be a Raider and haunt us for the next 15 years.

They should rework Peter's contract this offseason and lock him and S. Smith both into 7 year contracts. **** it, they may be the best tandem in football.

He makes his share of mistakes, but atleast he makes them while being aggressive... this kid was SUCH a steal.

Whichever GM told Dorsey he was the best CB prospect in 4 years was spot on.

I'd be thrilled if the kid was just a good cover guy, but he's also a stud ball hawk.
