100% synth, change about once a year. Of course, I drive less than 8,000 miles a year, so I'm not too hard on the car.

I use 5w30 Mobil 1, in everthing except the Barracuda. I will be switching to
0w30 as soon as I can find it, in everything, including the Barracuda. Here is the best explanation I have ever seen, why I should do that.

I got an understanding of what the numbers really mean, especially recently with all the changes. My Wifes new Nitro calls for 5w20, so here is what I said post #8.

"The 5w-20 recommended in my wifes new Nitro, is exactly why I have been so interested in this subject. I thought I knew something about this subject, and found out I didn't know much.

The way I understand it, for daily driving, the second number should be 30, as it drops to 10 when the engine reachs operating temp, ideal for flow. Flow is the goal, not pressure. I noticed our Nitro had an unusual amount of engine noise, so I changed the 5w20, to 5w30 and it quieted right down. I dismissed it, as a factory sacrifice to better mileage, and I still believe that.

But the first number, is the cool number, but a 5 or 10 does not mean they are 5 or 10 when cool. It means the oil is the same as a 5 or 10 when cold, much thicker than the number. He says there is no oil that is thin enough for proper lubrication at start up, so the lower the number, the better.

So bottom line, the way I see it, 0W30 synthetic is the best option, period, unless you are racing.

See I always, as most people, believed a lot of oil pressure was good. He said that is wrong, you should have 10lbs. per thousand rpms. My Barracuda carries 70-80 all the time, which is bad."

Have you found any 0w synthetic oil? I've been looking for 0w20 and can't find it. I'm using 5w20 now.
