I disagree with you on the victor of this election being in a no win situation. It's far more likely that the economy's going to add around 10 million jobs over the next four years no matter who's in office. Employment is set to drop like a rock here in a couple years. Whoever wins this election gets to ride that tidal wave of good will to a landslide reelection. I think whoever wins this election is actually in a golden position.
Your second paragraph is interesting, though. |

I would think the left would be voting for Mitt Romney, because it would guarantee 8 more years of a liberal president.

Honestly, if he were to govern like Massachussetts Romney, it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to vacuum up some liberal voters in 2016.

Weird.... I would think that the right would be voting for Obama! The right keeps harping about Big Government - its a principle they hold most dear. Forbes, which is not a leftie rag, sez Obama is the champion of keeping government growth down:
FORBES: Who Is The Smallest Government Spender Since Eisenhower? It's Barack Obama "Amidst all the cries of Barack Obama being the most prolific big government spender the nation has ever suffered, Marketwatch is reporting that our president has actually been tighter with a buck than any United States president since Dwight D. Eisenhower. So, how have the Republicans managed to persuade Americans to buy into the whole “Obama as big spender” narrative? I’ll bet you think that this is the result of the Obama sponsored stimulus plan that is so frequently vilified by the conservatives…but you would be wrong. The first year of any incoming president term is saddled—for better or for worse—with the budget set by the president whom immediately precedes the new occupant of the White House. Indeed, not only was the 2009 budget the property of George W. Bush—and passed by the 2008 Congress—it was in effect four months before Barack Obama took the oath of office." ![]() |
