Joe Biden, like most libs is a cheap ****

By KENNETH R. BAZINET
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden is known for being a loose cannon - but he's decidedly tight when it comes to charity contributions.
WASHINGTON - Calling Joe Biden the cheap veep would be charitable.

Biden, Barack Obama's vice presidential pick, relased 10 years of tax returns Friday in hopes of forcing GOP rival Sarah Palin to do the same.

But the filings reveal the Delaware Democrat doesn't dig very deep into his wallet for charities.

Biden reported a total income of $2.2 million over the last 10 years, but donated a scant $3,690 in money and gifts.

His philanthropy hit a peak last year - while he was running for President - when he earned $320,000. He gave $995 to charity - and that includes a non-cash gift valued at $400, his records showed.

Based on percentage of income, he was most generous in 2007. He gave away .3% of what he and his wife, Jill, earned.

Biden donated $380 to charity in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He gave even less annually from 1998 to 2003.

The Obama-Biden campaign had no immediate response to an inquiry by the Daily News, but indicated it was reviewing the matter before making a comment.

A top GOP operative, however, snapped: "How does that compare to what an average American, making $40,000 a year gives?"

Big name Washington pols have been criticized for years for being tightwads when it comes to charity, including Al Gore in the 1980s and even Barack Obama until two years ago - when his philanthropy dramatically escalated.

This is ridiculous.

I could care less how much any politician gives to charity, regardless of party.

When did charitable donations become a requirement for US citizens?

Yes, but this is far over shadowed by the fact Joe knows every conductor on his commuter train by name.

It's not ridiculous. Anonymous charity/giving is a strong value and source of pride by helping those that need it for millions of Americans. Dems and Repubs all do it and it happens in all class levels. Don't you know that Dane?

Bottom line it's a legitimate point that is being raised and gives insight into the thinking of Joe Biden

Well, not for me guys.

The only donations I've ever given are clothes (regularly), and appliances and cabinets when we remodeled our current home.

I guess being "charitable" isn't important to me, so I don't find it to be important that others are charitable.

Since these assholes started demanding more social programs.

Wow youre extrapolating an awful lot from the info given. You know nothing of his finances, but are quick to condemn him for not giving enough money in your estimation.

Wow.

I don't know what Biden donates, but many of the "libs" I know donate a lot of time and money to various projects. I guess I don't understand the "most libs" remark in the title. Is there evidence to support such a stance?
