Sprint whacks another 8000 employees

In case you had not heard already, 8000 more layoffs are on the way and should be completed by the end of March.

Looking over the headlines during lunch was depressing..

GM to lay off 2,000 workers
Caterpillar to slash 20,000 jobs
Home depot to cut 7,000 jobs
Pfizer to buy Wyeth and get rid of 8,000 jobs
Sprint/Nextel to eliminate 8,000 jobs

Not sure yet. I know IT will get hit hard, as usual. And they said they are going after a lot of the executive leadership as well.

No way I'd ever take a job at Sprint. Way too many layoffs. They happen all the time too.

Hang in there....I'm in telecom as well and it's been ugly for quite some time now. We're in BK protection at the moment and just waiting for the Creditors to determine our fate in a few weeks.

Entrepreneurship is the way to go if you have the start up capital to do it.

Corporate America can go fuck themselves.
