Does the Cassel trade raise your expectations?

We won't be dealing with a rookie quarterback now. We have pieces on offense. There's reason to be optimistic that we could have a good, perhaps great, offense next season.

Clearly the defense needs work. But is it totally ridiculous to say the Chiefs might go 9-7?

I was thinking 5-11 before we got Cassel. Now I can see 7-9.

Remember the division is weak. We're clearly ahead of the Raiders at this point.

I'd feel better with a few more pieces on the offensive line.

A more accurate, game ready QB should be good for a couple wins you would think. Still alot of work to be done though.

Six to eight wins sounds good right now. Some might call that mediocrity. I think it would be progress.

For 2009?-yes, Cassel will win more than Thigpen would have and probably more than a Stafford or Sanchez would have in their first years.

To reach the SuperBowl?-Doubt it, but would love, love, love to be wrong

To me, the early moves seem to signal a desire by Pioli and Haley to turn things around very quickly. Obviously from Haley's comments to Waters, he doesn't consider a losing record to be acceptable, regardless of the circumstances..

Well if nothing else having Cassell raises the entertainment value of the Chiefs. Now, in addition to waiting for the Haley sideline temper explosion against somebody I can take wagers on how long it takes Cassell to get booed and chants of "TY--LER" to fill arrowhead stadium.

Seriously, I'd be surprised if we win 5 games.

In addition to installing new schemes on both sides of the ball the schedule is freakin' murder.

For '09: Was thinking 3-4 wins. Now thinking 5-6, pending further revision.

I figured all along that Pioli and Haley would want to win games and not just settle for sucking during a rebuild. I thought they'd visit free agency in an attempt to build the roster to do so. I didn't expect Cassel but I didn't count him out either. I expected some wins but now I expect more. How many I can't say yet becsuse we're still in the 1st weekend of free agency.

TY-LER may not even be on the roster when the season begins.

I can see a 4-2 division record, plus wins against Cleveland, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Jacksonville and maybe Washington. Nobody chokes like the Redskins.

Raise my expectations, yes. Unfortunately that usually leads to disappointment. But I'm completely stoked with the front office and the way they are doing business ...

Basically I probably feel about the Chiefs the same way Whitlock does. The Chiefs are a source of entertainment for me. I like football period, but the reality is the NFL is a business and the chiefs are more like a soap opera to me. For the most part I could care less if they win or lose, but all the subplots are entertaining and the fans emotional reactions are funny. I used to be one, but it's sorta like being in love with a girl that screws you over and breaks your heart. When you're emotionally connected to the situation she's got you by the balls and you can't see things for what they are but when you get over it you can laugh at her/them.
