***Official Knowmo2724 homer-2000 thread***

Very few non-bronco fans can tolerate him. he creates inane threads that are homeristic in nature (his avatar is very apropos), and nobody loves him (not even his own mother)

'face, this can be the home for all knowmo threads so we aren't treated to the bi-weekly steaming 'presents' left by the front door.

Take a cue from great QBs Joe Montana, Trent Green, Dan Marino, Brett Favre, and numerous others. Starting QBs don't ****ing care about their backups. They might like them as people and hang out with them after practices. They might even be lifelong friends. But it's not their ****ing jobs to coach them along. They aren't coaches, they're PLAYERS. First and foremost. I imagine Manning has enough on his goddamn plate trying to build this offense as quickly as possible. He doesn't have time to babysit Assweiler.
Forgive me if I don't take advice about how to develop franchise QBs from a Chiefs fan.

Who's giving advise? He's stating the fact that starting QBs don't "mentor" their backups.

He doesn't have to coach him, Brock just needs to watch how Manning goes about his business. Brock is still young and impressionable and he certainly isn't a guy who thinks he has it all figured out. He will learn a shitload about how to play the position just by spending 4-5 hours a day with Manning

It is a fact that some starters mentor and some don't. It is opinion as to which Manning will be in Denver.
It is false to say that if Manning doesn't actively mentor that a backup QB cannot greatly benefit from practicing and playing under Manning.
Steve Young learned a lot from a QB that didn't mentor him, for example.

It's not advice. It's science. I'm telling you how the world works right now.

What starters have mentored?
QBs that have successfully taken over for HOF QBs had the skill, if they learned anything from the starter it's up to them. The starter isn't worried about the backup getting ready for their future.

And now we come back to Jim Sorgi and Curtis Painter.

Which one is it, Knowmo? You can't have both.

Do you think Osweiler is going to be your starter after Manning? I hope he is.

Hey, Peyton can coach and mentor the kid if he wants to. I'm not stopping him.

He will be going against 99% of the conventional franchise QB philosophy regarding young backups who are supposedly supposed to take the guy's place one day.

It could happen. Sure.

Will it?

Very doubtful.

IMHO Peyton will tell Osweiller to go **** himself but who knows, he may mellow as he gets older.

Manning is a different breed though, he actually does enjoy coaching. He is very involved at the Manning Passing Academy. And just the other day he took Weber, Brock, and Hanie to a side field to teach them some of the things he does at the line.

10TH GRADE SCIENCE TEACHER: Vail, you ****ing idiot. Don't put those two chemicals together. The reaction will create a small explosion and break the beaker, releasing H2SO4 all over the place.

YOUNG VAILPASS: You're just telling us how you hope with every bone in your body what will happen. But you don't know!!!

Because your opinion is the same as the laws of chemistry.
