Very few non-bronco fans can tolerate him. he creates inane threads that are homeristic in nature (his avatar is very apropos), and nobody loves him (not even his own mother)

'face, this can be the home for all knowmo threads so we aren't treated to the bi-weekly steaming 'presents' left by the front door.

Romeo hasn't been there in like 8 years and was never the coach of the Broncos. Josh was only gone from NE for a year and a half when they picked him up.

You're right. However, his consistent ability to have defenses perform against Peyton Manning make him desirable. Do you understand that?

This. Jughead goes limp against Crennel's schemes.

Romeo can't tell Belicheat anything that he doesn't already know. Josh at least had inside information on Denver.

I would argue that Romeo has consistently performed better calling plays against Manning than Belichick has. Additionally, Crennel has done that with a porous Chiefs defense and with the Browns (, seriously I think that might have been the last game Peyton didn't throw a TD). Crennel as a "consultant" (calling defensive plays or at least advising what they should call given down, distance and situation) is a great commodity to have.

One could even make the argument that Romeo has done more with less against Peyton.

Regardless, I can't wait for this matchup. Peyton vs Crennel, Brady vs. Fox + Del Rio + Denver's D that has improved IMO makes this the marquee match-up in the playoffs. I also look forward to Giants-Packers, 49ers-Seahawks, Packers, Giants, really anyone out of the NFC or AFC. I'd also look forward to to a Texans-Broncos/Pats matchup if they occur.

Am I on CP right now?

I haven't seen such effusive praise for RC since 2010.

Romeo has had some success against Manning and is a good DC, but I wouldn't be all that concerned if the Pats did actually sign him prior to the game.

True, they won't need him. Broncos won't make it long enough to play the Pats.

As it stands now, NE would be traveling to Denver to play us after our first round bye.

That's silly. One, Romeo has had more than "some success".

I doubt NE signs him before it happens but I wouldn't doubt it. If it happens, you should be worried.

Without Brady being on the same team, Crennel is 1-7 against Manning.

Maybe it's not Crennel.

Id advise you to look at Manning's individual statistics and not wins. Romeo doesn't really pertain to the offensive side of the ball, nor has he been gifted with prolific offenses recently.

Manning 15/21 125 6.0 0 2 0-0
Manning 26/44 244 5.5 0 1 1-0
Manning 22/37 285 7.7 2 1 2-12

These are the 3 most recent games he's played against Romeo on shitty teams.

Anything can happen in the playoffs... top seeds (if I recall from the article I read earlier) haven't fared as well in the playoffs in recent years as they did over a decade ago. Speaks to parity really and better balance with all the teams.

Either way, right now Manning has what is statistically (I believe) the best defense he's had and an offense that is playing very well. Give them the first round bye and NE in Denver and I certainly like their chances.

Well certainly. Discounting Romeo's success as a playcaller against Peyton is silly IMO.

I think the Donks/NE game will be awesome. However, if Romeo gets hired as a consultant, I think there are reason's to be worried ( i.e. NE uses the same sub package consistently, 2-3-6 wiht an extra safety Chung in the box). It isn't the end of the world but definitely something to consider as a problem.
