Jail Time For Not Paying The Health Insurance "Fee"

http://www.politico.com/livepulse/09..._.html?showall

This doesn't happen often enough.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

The note was a follow-up to Ensign's questioning at the markup.

The wealthy should find this a normal process.

Wait until you get "health care deadbeats" in the system. they'd be lower class I bet than drug offenders.

Drug offendors you could let go because for one thing most will put themselves back in the system voluntarily in the future anyway. But continuing down the logical paths here, you'd think that drugs, being a very steady source of potential tax revenue, will become more legal or tolerated, in the future. Drug offendors in the future will actually be a cash cow for the state.

Being branded an Enemy of Socialism by not paying your tribute to the King can't be allowed, because it decreases revenue. The government will scrub where it's dirty.

Wow! Nicely put.

"The government will scrub where it is dirty"

How many Winston Smiths will be cleaners until they wake up as he did in "1984"? It is frightening to see some of them on this board.

*cough* *cough* Patriot Act *cough*

Excuse me. *ahaugh* Yes. Indeed. The "government will save us from everything that ails us" mentality that has crept into this nation is quite frightening. I agree wholeheartedly.
