Actually, if you want perfect popcorn, splurge on coconut oil. Trust me.

And yeah, popcorn salt is awesome.

Based on that episode, I actually bought some different kinds of popcorn to try them and it's amazing the texture, flavor and size of the varieties. Screw the Orville Reddenbacher popcorn... that stuff is the worst.

I've been using peanut oil for my popcorn for years. It's superior to every other oil simply because of the aroma. Never smelled better popcorn. I also don't use popcorn salt. I use "lite" salt (50% potassium chloride). Works just as well.

Brand of popcorn doesn't really matter. It's all about the preparation. I use generic HyVee kernels and it's still the best popcorn I've ever had.

If you haven't used coconut oil, it's the best for aroma.

I have, and it's not, IMO. I mean, it doesn't smell bad or anything, but it doesn't really smell like popcorn should.

Coconut oil is the best. It's what they used to use in movie theaters until the health scares for various foods hit and they changed over to crappier oils.

I use the coconut oil in the professional-style popcorn machine I bought for my home. I add real butter, a sprinkle of salt, and some pepper on occasion.

Damned. I'm actually ashamed to say this now, but I have been using microwave popcorn. I need to try some of this stuff here though. I have been missing out apparently. Orville Redenbacher was in me last week. Was he in you?

Oh man, I totally disagree. I think coconut oil gives popcorn that real, professionally made smell. Like Just Passin' By said, it's what the theaters used to use before the health factor came into play.

To each his own, but I think coconut oil knocks popcorn out of the park.
