Perhaps the most famous star cluster on the sky, the bright stars of the Pleiades can be seen without binoculars from even the depths of a light-polluted city. With a long exposure from a dark location, though, the dust cloud surrounding the Pleiades star cluster becomes very evident. The above exposure took about 20 minutes and covers a sky area several times the size of the full moon. Also known as the Seven Sisters and M45, the Pleiades lies about 400 light years away toward the constellation of the Bull (Taurus). A common legend with a modern twist is that one of the brighter stars faded since the cluster was named, leaving only six stars visible to the unaided eye. The actual number of Pleiades stars visible, however, may be more or less than seven, depending on the darkness of the surrounding sky and the clarity of the observer's eyesight.
Beautiful photo, lotsa conjecture out there about that particular cluster of stars...

I am lucky to live in Hawaii. This cardinal has been coming every day lately. They were introduced to the islands decades ago, they aren't native. But they are fairly rare. Taken with a Nikon D3200, Sigma 70-300mm (at 300), 1/30, F5.6, 800 ISO. Taken from my living room, through a slightly opened screen door.

Splatbass, I have been to your beautiful state three times and visited all the islands with the exception of Hawaii. My wife and I have plans to buy a home there when we retire and live on Maui for six months every year. Your photos make me wish retirement was much closer. Thanks for posting.

I didn't take this, found it on Reddit. However, it is my city, and I do wear Cons. Does that count?
