Only bands on the list I've heard of

Widespread Panic
The Black Keys
Robert Randolph and the Family Band
Fishbone
Ben Miller Band
Slightly Stoopid
Black Joe Lewis (2 sets)
Split Lip Rayfield (2 sets)

All of them are pretty kick ass. I've seen Fishbone, Ben Miller Band and Split Lip Rayfield. I really want to see The Black Keys, RRATFB and Slightly Stoopid.

Black Keys are amazing. First time I saw them was at Bonnaroo a few years ago after my friend had been going on and on about how I had to see them. So they start getting ready and the guitarist plays a note that felt like it almost blew my eardrums. I asked my friend if they just turn it up loud during warmups, and he smiles and replies "nope". They went on to play an insanely hard and heavy show last night, which apparently is the norm for them.

Mark Farina is great too, haven't seen him spin in almost a decade.

I used to love jam bands, but I just can't do it anymore. =(

I've followed Widespread Panic for awhile, and have witnessed a lot of those bands.

That's me as well. Used to be a huge part of my life. Seen over 40 Phish shows dating back to 1994, but I just don't dig it like I used to. I wish Waka would do a little more alternative like they did a few years back when they had the Flaming Lips play.

Dubtribe Sound System is very good, or at least they were. Their 1999 album "Bryant Street" is terrific.

And Black Joe Lewis is worth the price of admission. Really nice lineup.

I've got a funny Fishbone story...but I'm going to plead the fifth in order not to indict myself. Man, their "The Reality of My Surroundings" was phenomenal. 1991 was the best year of music ever. Seems like just yesterday...hmmm.

I remember when it used to be a bunch of mediocre KU trippy hippy bands, everyone dropped acid or sucked on a balloon and danced around the big bonfire. Sounds like it's grown substantially since I was last at it in that Eudora cornfield.

Ever since I got into Tool and Deftones, it seems I can only listen to the heavier side of the rock spectrum. I'm Talking about the creative, non-radio bands.

Yeah, I'm not that into heavy (but I do like punk... and I like Between the Buried and Me... stuff that has movements in it). I like indie shit: TV on the Radio, Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Animal Collective, Of Montreal, yada yada yada... whatever all the pretentious hipster ****s are listening to. I can't help it, but I like it. I listen to quite a bit of hip hop as well.

black keys sound alot better in concert, the retro singing recording style they go for on their albums are sighworthy.

I've heard of many of those bands. That's a pretty impressive lineup actually. A few years ago I was fortunate enough to attend the "10K" festival up at the Detroit Lakes in MN. Anyhow, Umphrey's McGee, The Disco Biscuits, and Wookiefoot were some of the many bands performing that year. All three of them were very good too as I recall. Would love to see Slightly Stoopid. Just haven't really had the chance yet.

I may have to go, anyway. One of my old tour buddy road dogs is the manager for Umphrey's, so I'd like to see him. Would probably get to do the backstage/VIP thing as well.

That'd be awsome for you...you'd have a great time I bet. I wouldn't mind going either. Just a bit too far for me to attend at this point in time.

I saw The Black Keys and Sound Tribe Sector 9 in Oxford, MS back in 05 or 06.. Great acts.
I'm just not into the jam band scene these days.
