An open letter to the refs of my daughters' game this afternoon

OK, boys. Last week we tried to show you what travelling was. You can't take three steps after you've picked up your dribble, you can't take a bunny hop before putting up a jumper. You can't shove a girl into the scorers table without a call, you can't let the other team pick up the ball and throw it in after a score (that's a technical foul, by the way).

Just to let you know, three of the players' moms are attornies, and they've all got PMS.

Just sayin'

(I got T-d up last week after our girl got hacked and made they shot - refs disallowed the shot, we missed the freebies, they got a rebound, broke away, and the girl took no less than 3 steps prior to making her layup. We got called for a foul on the shot, and she made her free throw... as well as the free throws on the technical. We were down by one, would've gone up by one, instead we went down by seven... I lost it)

Everyone arguement you get into after this thread should just say

Good night, all. I probably ought to get an early start into KC tomorrow with the weather forecast. Thanks for letting me vent. Nice to see I'm not the only one who's ever been frustrated by youth sports and their officials.

You're definitely not the only one. If you watched the news, you'd see that there are dozens of pathetic souls trying to capture heretofore unclaimed greatness through the lives of your children.

Usually, it's at least boys' hockey or something, though.

Would that thoroughly capture it, though? I mean, most people reading that would assume that the poster must be a 7th grade female basketball player. Perhaps the phrase "middle-aged assistant to the coach" could be inserted somewhere just for clarification.

In the hierarchy of sentient thought, I would think that "7th grade female basketball player" would rank a few spots above "middle-aged assistant to the coach of a 7th grade female basketball team who got a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct and subsequently left the game".
