Snow on the first day of Spring


I hate you Kansas. I ****ing loathe you for more reasons than just the snow... but the snow just topped it off.

I cannot wait to live in a state with proper seasons.

You'd miss it if you didn't live in an area with snow. I lived in South Georgia at one time where it never snows and remember running around without a shirt on sweating my ass off on Christmas Day. I would have killed for a snowstorm.

I always find it amusing that, no matter where people are from, they always think their state's weather is more unusual than anyone else's.

Yeah, but Kansas is only one of about 20 states who are experiencing that from this storm. That's my point.

And I don't mean to call you out specifically - it's a common thing. I just find it interesting. Kind of like the saying "If you don't like the weather in ______, wait 15 minutes and it'll change." I've personally heard that phrase from people who live in probably 5 different states that are spread all across the country.

EDIT: Here's an interesting link about that phrase that includes cited references to the saying being used to describe:
  • New England
  • Washington, DC
  • New York
  • Cleveland
  • Chicago
  • Michigan
  • Wisconsin
  • Nebraska

A friend of mine in KC posted on his facebook that they got 4". None down here yet, but I think most of if is supposed to stay northwest of us. They're calling for 1-3" total here once it starts snowing tonight. We're getting a ton of rain though.


EDIT: Part about five more inches by tomorrow was from a friend who lives somewhere else.
