Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness (yeah, I know...property)

First, yeah...it's the Declaration--not the Constitution.

However, a whole lot of folks on the left invoke "happiness" when it suits their purposes....to argue for changing laws to decriminalize behavior they consider to be primarily between "constenting adults. Likewise, folks on the right often invoke "liberty" to defend their minimalist approach to government.

Extremists in both camps engage in ridiculous hyperbole to make specious claims to dubious "rights"--such as decriminalization of drugs, prostitution, and even pedophilia; and such as an absolute right to gun ownership, to view pornography, to refuse to pay income taxes, and to refuse to recognize the jurisdiction of courts.

That said...isn't it a much more reasonable position to take that "life" is much more a true "right" than ANY of those things?

And, in today's world, what is life....without access to healthcare. Thus, it seems to me that one can make a much more persuasive case that healthcare is much more legitimately a "right" than any of those other things that real wingtards of either side are constantly jabbering about....

Hell, if weed, prostitution, porn, and guns are "rights"....

Difference being, those are things people don't want TAKEN from them, while HC is something we're presently saddled with PROVIDING and EXTENDING FOR.

If you want to compare apples to apples, you would need to gauge the forces advocating free prostitution weed and guns for all to the current HC situation, or the forces advocating life not be extinguished against one's will to the current social liberty situation.

If an entity [citizen, corporation, govt, etc] endangers your life, [s]he should be responsible for the provision of curative measures.
If infirmity or disease occasions you without human cause, it might be provident for society to provide curative measures, but they're not the cause of your loss of 'life.'
